Dear Ashlea,
My mother just passed away on Friday and we were able to bring her home on Wed with Hospice care. Those people are so amazing. My mom should have been with Hospice a month ago….but her fighting spirit didn’t want to give up. The care team you get is there for you 24/7. Unbelievable.
My heart goes out to you and your family. This site is truly a godsend. I was not an active poster, but a daily reader. Use them as you need them. They are truly the experts.
My prayers are with you.
LauriejobemeMemberMy mother had all of her care at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. (We live in Napa, CA). Her surgeon was Dr. Hasoun. I can’t express the gratitude I have for that facility and their staff. My mother is currently in the final stages of her cancer and will start Hospice today, but I feel they did everything possible to fix this monster of a disease. If you need more information feel free to ask.
jobemeMemberI had to have my mom admitted to the hospital on Tuesday because she lost all motor skills, couldn’t talk, walk no eating, drinking – NOTHING. I can’t stress enough….HYDRATION HYDRATION HYDRATION!!! I had no idea what was going on…she just took a major turn for the worse…and the family thought it was this evil cancer. Lo and behold she was dehyrated and her electrolytes were all over the place. My family really stressed the need for fluids…but I guess she didn’t take it seriously. She has recovered and will most likely come home from the hospital tomorrow….but we will watch her more closely and make sure she gets the necessary fluids. We dodged a bullet this time…
jobemeMemberHow about vitamen D? A friend who is dealing with breast cancer said her doctor prescribed it for her. 2000mg per day. Any feedback?
