SpectatorDear donellalu – I’d like to join Lainy in welcoming you to this wonderful “family”. I send loads of best wishes for your mother’s recovery. My sister has just started chemo & we’re all feeling much more optimistic now. I’ll keep you & your family in my thoughts as we all fight this.

SpectatorThanks, Gavin. She had her second chemo today, which finishes her 1st full cycle. She seems to be coping well with it, so far – just very, very, very tired. She’s really optimistic about it, which is wonderful.
Her Mac nurse talked about a local day centre on her first visit, which freaked my sis out & really depressed her for a few days (because it brought home to her the seriousness of what she’s got), but recently she’s been talking about getting more information on it as she’s heard how good the centres are. I’ll tell her about your dad’s experiences at his centre. That’ll give her a boost.

SpectatorHello Readaloud & Amy H, I’m sorry I can’t help with your questions, but I want to welcome you both to this wonderful site.
I hope you’re getting more positive help from your step-dad’s doctors now, Readaloud.
Amy, there are people on here with an amazing wealth of knowledge & I’m sure someone will be on soon who can shed some light on your worries.
All the best

SpectatorDear Margaret & Blair, I’m so, so sorry. I only “spoke” to Ron a couple of times on here, but I LOVED his style of posts & his wonderful, wonderful humour.
I found his posts so helpful & so compassionate. I’m so very sad to hear he has left us.
With my very best wishes

SpectatorWelcome, Huffdog, & I’m so sorry to hear about the problems your sister is having. I know my sister was told she couldn’t start chemo until they were satisfied with her blood results as patients have to be fit to withstand the infusions. I know how slow the whole process felt to me before her levels came down & chemo started. A lot of the time, I still think it’s all going too slowly, but at least treatment has now started.
I send my very best wishes to you & your sister & hope they get the drains sorted quickly so she can build her her strength for the fight.

SpectatorWelcome, Joey!! My sister’s on Gem/Cis, like Kris, so I don’t have any knowledge of Xeloda. It was great to hear Kristin’s experience & I hope it works for your dad, too.
