ModeratorDear Dave,
Welcome to our group. My Mom was diagnosed in October 2013 and was also closed back up during surgery (vena cava/bleeding risk). At that time, we thought all hope was gone. However, she is still with us and feeling good after chemo and Y-90. This time we went 5 months without a scan, so are hoping that when we get the results on Friday, she is still in remission.
Best wishes,

ModeratorDear Jan,
I am very sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing, but I hope in the future it may give you a small bit of comfort that although much too soon, she did not suffer at the end.
My heartfelt condolences are with you and your family,

ModeratorDear Julie,
Thinking of you and hoping all goes well at your visit. I’m sorry you have to deal with this rather than just enjoying life.
Love and hugs,,

ModeratorVallerina,
I’m so glad you found us. Grief and crying is normal . We had many ups and downs with my mother, and although although not all are as fortunate, we just returned from a vacation at the beach at almost 3 years since diagnosis. As Marion said, surgical treatment is the best approach if possible since it offers a cure, but more and more are starting to live with CC as a chronic disease even if not curable.
Best wishes,

ModeratorMatt-
Thank you for the update; you are inspirational! All of the water sports while fatigued? It makes me very guilty that I’m sitting on the couch watching TV rather than getting out and being active.
Beautiful picture!

I’m the type of person who has always second guessed many life choices, but since going through this with Mom, and lung cancer with Dad, I’ve realized that it could really threaten my sanity if I tried to second guess some of our choices. From reading the many stories of our members, everyone is truly different and can make similar choices with vastly different outcomes. Best we can do is gather all information possible, and try to make informed decisions.
Take care,

ModeratorDear Julie, I am so sorry to read the result s but you definitely have the priorities right. Love and hugs coming your way. I really hate CC. Catherine

ModeratorWonderful that he’s feeling better and moving forward. For many (including my Mom), the Emend in the IV and the extra steroid (dexamethasone) given on day of chemo and first few days after made a world of difference. She went from mostly bedridden the first cycle to not needing nausea meds at home the second cycle.
Best wishes,

ModeratorAussieJan,
Fingers are crossed. My mother never had a stent, but I have read many posts here where it greatly improves the patient’s health once placed. Hope it works for your mum.
Best wishes,

ModeratorPinklady,
Welcome to our group. You mentioned that he was offered Y-90. Although not all have the results my mother did, she also had the unresectable ICC and after 2 Y90 treatments has been in remission (no evidence of disease) since Nov 2014. Although not cured, the treatment-free years of life is something we didn’t think she would have.
Marion is so right on needing the team and multiple opinions/eyes looking at the case.
Best wishes,
Catherine -
