When we were given both options 5FU and Xeloda, the research showed that Xeloda had a bit higher statistics, but it is also harder on the liver. It’s a bit of a toss up. It was easier for my brother to take the Xeloda in pill form, so we opted for that. Good luck!

All the medications are very confusing and if you take one then it causes symptoms of something else. This was a huge frustration for us.

You might consider accupuncture. Mark, had good pain relief from accupuncture and they are able to handle many other side effects without additional medications that seem to complicate things.

    Just a thought.

    Michele,

There are several things you can do. You just need some time and a telephone. Find out through your husbands work if the company provides an insurance advocate, also check with the insurance company and find out if they provide one. This is someone who will help you through this process.

Also, have your Dr. write a letter to the insurance company explaining the situation. Have him send the latest research that shows why you want to try Xeloda or whatever else you are interested in and do not give up.

Many on this website had to battle to be able to take the things they researched and wanted to try. Just keep asking to talk to someone else, a supervisor, anyone. Just keep at it.

    Hi Bob’s wife,

If you do a search on Tarceva you will see that there are many patients using it now, or patients who have used it in the past. This may help you. There is also a link on the chemo worksheet, that will give you a link to Tarceva so you can get some additional information

    Betty,

You are a blessing to us all. I wish I could bottle you and sprinkle you around a bit! Let us know how we can help, we realize there is a critical need for grief support. We have just been a little unsure how to go about it.

    Juanita,

Your concern is something we have discussed as a family and something we discussed this past weekend as a board.

Please feel free to give us some suggestions so that those of us who are working through the grieving process can rely on and help each other.

    Geoff,

I could not be more pleased than to hear that things are holding stable. I will be very interested to hear what Dr. Nesselhut has to say.

    Mike,

The best thing to do would be to type in the search engine the things you are wanting to learn about. Or just start with the sections in which you are most interested.

It would be hard to tell you which posts are the most important, it depends on where you are at, what you have already done, where you are heading and what your philosophy is.

Unfortunately, it takes a lot of work and research, but you will find a significant portion of that here if you will take the time to sift through it.

Thanks Jeff, I do get the cancer compass update as well. I’m glad to see them trying some natural things in addition to everything else. It will be interesting to watch and see what happens.

    Geoff,

I’m very excited to hear the results of your DC therapy. Dr. Nesselhut’s was one of the clinics we did a lot of research on. There is something else you may want to look into as well while you are having treatments there. It is called Oncothermia, the website is http://www.oncotherm.com – this is another item that Pinnacle care suggests.

Please keep us updated Geoff. What is the time frame for knowing how things are going?
