SpectatorHi Bonnie,
Welcome and thanks for Sharing your story. Your attitude is an inspiration. If chemo is out, what about surgery or radiation?willow
SpectatorDenial or distraction or talking it out in a boad like this…Whatever it takes to cope and keep enjoying every day!

SpectatorKeeping your husband in my thoughts as he awaits scans and results. I know you’re nervous about the markers…who wouldn’t be. Your husband is so fortunate to have you helping him through this awful scare. I too try to just “keep it together” for the sake of my family and my sister (the one w CC) but otherwise I’d be withdrawn into my private world of sadness and worry. Kids help us to live in the moment. Take care,
Willowwillow
SpectatorI meant “pass” , not “ass”! I AM tired!

SpectatorKatya,
My thoughts are with you. I just tossed and turned all night as I can’t get the thoughts and feelings of helping my father at the end stages of Alsheimers ass this week. Though im the primary caregiver, I couldn’t have done it alone. If they release your mom from the regular hospital, I suggest, as Marion has, to find hospice services, private caregivers or a nursing home to help you so you can concentrate on loving and comforting your mom. You’re a loving daughter. God bless you,

SpectatorPam,
I am just logging on as I’ve been gone a while… Just wanted to send more healing wishes Lauren’s way and tell you I’m glad her health has improved SO much.

SpectatorI agree. Get to the bottom of what caused the jaundice. Like someone said, there can be many causes of it though I have heard of ERCP missing a positive (false negatives or inconclusive ). My sister had 2 biopsies (per cutaneous) because the first one was inconclusive. Bottom like: follow up to find root cause.
Best to you and Your health! Willowwillow
SpectatorI would like to send you a huge hug and reassure you that you will find the strength to live fully, knowing your mom wants you to be happy. I wish there were a way around the pain and loss you are feeling now. They all say that it fades with time though your love never will. Just know you are not alone.

SpectatorI haven’t heard of dendritic cell therapy. Will have to look it up. Percy, what’s your opinion on it?
Willowwillow
SpectatorI second that!!!!

SpectatorWow, Cathy, to use a cliche, what a winding road you’ve been on. It is frustrating that there is no set protocol and most treatments are a temporary fix as you said, but your relative success is really inspiring. Your logical and calm manner of thinking through things is really helpful. Very glad to hear you are stable. I can’t give advice but your instinct to go back on chemo makes sense to me if the side effects are tolerable.
We’re waiting to hear if the Drs will rec chemo again for my sister. She couldn’t tolerate the Gem-Cis due to low blood counts after only a couple treatments. Had radioembo w Y90 in Jan and is waiting for next suggestion/ plan.
Thanks again for sharing your situation and my best to you.

SpectatorI meant to say Laineys husband had the surgery and it bought him 5 more years. lots have had the Whipple surgery too and many are back to normal life.
willow
SpectatorDear Chris,
Lainey and others will probably get to you soon. Lots of others have had it as well and here on this board we consider your Dad even “lucky” that its an option. I’m sure your Dad doesn’t feel very lucky though and its understandable that he is having anxiety right now. This gets better as you gain confidence in the plan and meanwhile the Dr may prescribe an anti anxiety med like Ativan.
Hang in there!
