    Hi Irishgirl,

Firstly welcome to our cc family. You have come to the right place for help and advice. Whilst I can’t give you any answers I’m sure someone else will be along soon. From what I have read this disease progresses differently from patient to patient. My Dad was diagnosed April, his only treatment being a stent. In september we were told he had 3-4 months. Luckily he is in no pain, the only symptom he has ever had is his jaundice. He is slowing down now though, eating little and often. It is heartbreaking seeing one of the most important people in your life go through this. I can honestly say though that the people on this site have helped me so much the past several months.

Thinking of you and hoping your Moms pain will be under control soon

I am new to this site and having been reading posts by many of you and had to share my mom’s story. In June she had a bad pain on her right side doctors told us it was her gall bladder she went into surgery and they found she had bile duct cancer and it had spread to liver the cancer was surrounding her liver. The news was very hard to take because she had no complaints before the pain on the right side. The doctors had told us there really was no hope and chemo could only give her a couple extra months to live. In July she did 2 weeks of chemo/gemzar and stopped it was affecting her quality of life. In August her tumor markers were down from the 2 treatments but she still decided not to resume treatments. She did well Aug, Sept & Oct…Early this month she went back to the doctors and her tumor markers were back up. She now has lost alot of weight, has no appetite, vomits bile often and has alot of back pain. She tried morphine and it wasn’t helping the pain now she is on diluated and now she is on her 4th nausea medicine. I am not sure what to expect next now that the tumor markers are back up and she is declining fast. Hospice comes in 2 x a week. Somedays she has the jaundice color and other days she is very pale…I wish I could find more answers on what to expect in the upcoming weeks…Can anyone answer does the vomiting get worse as this disease progresses even more? This is such a horrible disease and to watch my Mom go through this everyday is just heartbreaking…If anyone can give my any feedback I would greatly appreciate it…..
