Hi Kris,
Reading your post made me feel like I had a twin in Sweden. I am always making jokes with the doctors and nurses at the hospital.
Two weeks ago I complained to my doctor that the radiation treatment they did on my rogue tumour on the pelvic bone did not cause the side-effect they had promised!!! The side effect I was most excited about was losing all my pubic hair without having to go through the agony of waxing! So I asked her to tell the radiation oncologist to stop making promises she couldn’t keep. Anyway, my doctor just looked at me and told me to stop making her laugh!!
During the same meeting with her, I looked her square in the eyes and told I was going to be the patient that will beat her odds.
As long as there is always a clinical trial for me to try I will never stop hoping.
My biggest fears is running out of trials, and dying without providing valuable medical information to help the cause.

You are an inspiration! NEVER give up hope! When my mother was diagnosed with CC it had already consumed 75% of her liver. They did this exact regime with her – 3 weeks on Cisplatin and Gemzar given at the same time and one week off. Wouldn’t you know, her cancer shrunk enough to have it surgically removed under this regime!! The doctors were absolutely amazed by how much her cancer had shrunk! She had also had some chemoembolizations done before that, as well. Anyway, keep looking up and I pray this combo works wonders for you!

I gave my sister a stuffed-toy dog during her 1st week in hospital. He’s a German Shepherd & she’s named him Billy D. Rubin. (She called him Deefer Dog, originally, but since all the drains have gone in, the D has moved to become his middle name).

You remind me of my friend Billie and her husband Mike. Mike has had adenoid cystic carcinoma, a very rare disease, for over 35 years already. Four different times, he has beaten a 5-year prognosis. Their biggest and best weapons seem to be laughter and humor. I can just picture you in your high heels kicking Leroy down those stairs you were running up and laughing as he falls, tumbling down many flights. Leroy looks tough and intimidates a lot of people, but with one feminine flick of your ankle, you send him packing. Kudos to you!

Ok, as to Leroy…I sincerely hope I do not offend anyone, but Leroy sounds like someone who doesnt have all his manners. I didnt invite the cancer to come back, so it is definately a rude one. Why a man? 1. Arent all of womens problems caused by men? 2) I think women are more stubborn and I didnt want my cancer to get any ideas!
Marion, as to why they want to pump me full of cisplatin, I dont know. My only guess is that we were all disappointed in the last regime’s results and the growth of the tumors, and the general size of Leroy made them think that this could be the last shot at it and to poison him good. I did tell my doctor that I am willing to do and try anything and that the possible side effects (both permanent and temporary) were preferrable than death. I basically begged for a very aggressive treatment. I think when they last saw me, I was running up the stairs to the oncology unit, laughing and in general good health (except the low blood count) they decided I had enough strength and energy for the increase.

Oh, Kris, I was looking for that Pink sequined robe and now I see you are wearing it! Give Leroy a punch and knock him out! I am wondering though why a man’s name?????? I will have to think now of a name for mine! Can’t give Teddy’s a name as it jumps around too much. Oh, I know for him, Jumpin Jack and we shall call him Jack.
