Oops, I think I should have started in the Introduction section on this site since I am new. Not too computer literate!!!!!
October 20, 2009 at 11:39 pm #32168lovemymomadSpectatorThank you all so much for your replies, information, care and concerns…what a comfort! Thank you all for the hello’s and good wishes. I am praying we get some answers soon. My mom is rapidly loosing weight as she just can’t seem to keep anything down. I will let you all know about her scan, but not scheduled to hear any results until November 2nd…seems like a long ways off!

October 20, 2009 at 12:43 pm #32166gavinModeratorHi there,
Welcome to the site, although I am sorry that you have to be here. My dad has CC but has not had any surgery, chemo or radiation so I cant help you with any of that. He has been vomitting a lot since Friday and today his GP told us it was reflux and given him meds for it. He was also being sick when lying on his side and on his front and when he was sitting up. He seemed to find lying on his back works best for him.
Anyway, just wanted to welcome you to the site and I hope the scan results go well for your mum.
My best wishes to you both.
Gavin
October 20, 2009 at 4:36 am #32165devoncatSpectatorI had similar symptoms when my cc returned. Laying down was so much harder than sitting up. That said, the doctor originally thought it could be scar tissue causing problems. Either way, my doctor decided that the best would be to open me up and reroute the digestive track to go around the obstruction. So in my case, they planned surgery for the “scar tissue” too bad it turned out to be something far worse.
Best of luck with your mom.

Best,
MarionOctober 20, 2009 at 12:48 am #32163lovemymomadSpectatorThank you so much for your reply! My mom has had a blood test and we were told her numbers looked fine (whatever that means). Do you know if they can do anything for the scar tissue, if that would be the case? Should get the results of the scan soon. Hope to hear good news.
October 20, 2009 at 12:30 am #32162marionsModeratorHello and welcome to officially join our site. We have seen, on this board, many issues with vomiting and reflux due to obstructions or scar tissue or for various other reasons. However, I don’t recall it specifically being caused when not in an upright position. Hopefully, the scan will shed some light in to the situation. Has your Mom had a blood test also? Others may have experienced something they would like to share with you, also.
Please, stay in touch.
MarionOctober 19, 2009 at 11:51 pm #2784lovemymomadSpectatorHi there. I have been on this site millions of times taking in so much information from everyone’s posts. I am wondering if someone can provide some information/guidance on what might be happening with my mother. She was diagnosed in September of 2008 with CC and the doctor performed a resection of the bile duct/reconstruction. Two lymph nodes were involved. She had chemo and radiation, which she completed in May of 2009. In the past few months she has had major reflux/stomach problems and vomits. The oncologist has her on meds for the reflux, anti-naseau, etc., but nothing seems to work. She had a scan today, which we didn’t think she would be able to get through because every time she lays down everything comes back up. We will await the results of the scan. Doc said if nothing shows, then we need to go to her surgeon and have a scope done. Is this common with CC patients to have reflux/stomach issues? Is this just something she has to deal with? Any thoughts? Thank you so much for your time and help.
