Thanks for this Marion. Sounds like everything is on track and that even going through all of this Lainy has not lost her sense of humor. Thank Robin for being so kind to keep us in the loop.

    Hugs,

Finally, we got the update: Here we go:

Hello, thank you for being so patient (haha, not meant to be a pun). Mom had a rough morning, feeling very nauseous and kept shaking from head to toe! She wasn’t cold, and she wasn’t anxious so we were stumped as to what was going on. It was in the early afternoon she realized one of the drugs they were giving her she had a bad reaction to in the past! So of course that drug was taken off the list! She is in a lot of pain, but I will say she looks very good, she is smiling a lot, and she is trying to crack all the nurses up… She is still on the morphine drip and if she moves her body suddenly (especially her legs) you will know it! She is allowed to have clear liquids but so far hasn’t really gotten anything down, a few sips. The best news is late this afternoon they did get her up and she slowly walked about 20 feet, they are going to attempt it again in about 30 minutes. She said it felt good being able to move even if it was a little bit. I gave her a little sponge bath to help her feel fresh, she is so cute, has great color and attitude.

I know she is hurting bad, and she has a way to go for sure, she said she didn’t realize the surgery would be this difficult, I just tell her to keep her eye on the end result. She is so happy she has taken this step.

Thank you all for the messages, she didn’t want any visitors today, and she doesn’t want to talk on the phone yet, but as soon as that changes I will let everyone know. Her cell phone is turned off and the room phone is unplugged but she knows all of your prayers and I read all the messages to her, she is very thankful!!
    Love Robin

Robin will get back to me in a short time. Don’t want to bother her – she knows to keep us updated and she will.
Waiting along with you. We should hear shortly.

The long awaited 3rd Robin update (good news)

Mom finally made it to her room around 11:00pm, they kept her in the recovery room for an extended time because her blood pressure went up and she was having a bit of trouble coming out of the anesthesia, not to mention feeling nauseous.

By the time they got her to the room the blood pressure was under control, she was opening her eyes a little more and the nauseous feeling was subsiding, all good signs! But boy did her eyes bug out when the nurse told her she was going to have to get up in a few hours and see if she could walk any. The reason is that she has to get up and move as fast as possible for a much better recovery, crazy I know!! The idea of her having to get up, well… I can’t even imagine after seeing her tonight but I’m sure she will do the best she can do.

Mom is on the morphine drip, they will start her on ice chips around 2am and if that goes down good she will go to a clear diet for Wednesday. She did ask me a few questions and smiled a couple of times, but mostly she was out of it!

    2nd update:

She is out of surgery and doing good! The doctor said it took a bit longer than he had expected but he had a lot of scar tissue to deal with from the gist tumor surgery 6 years ago. She is still in recovery and still on oxygen, as soon as she starts waking up they will come get us to go back and see her. They are taking good care of her and also monitoring her for her diabetes,

So far so good!! Keep up the prayers for a quick healing and not only strong in body but also in mind…

    Robin (Lainy’s daughter report)

Here is your first update: They took mom in about 2 hours after the scheduled time so now the expected finished time should be more around 7:00pm our time. She had a great attitude and was making jokes up till the time they wheeled her bed away, I guess the medication they gave her a few minutes before “looped” her a little bit, LOL.

She did not end up getting an epidural as the doctor didn’t want it to inhibit her ability to walk after surgery (within the first 24 hours), this way they can get her up and around as quickly as possible.

As soon as Robin updates me, I will place on this thread.

    Hugs,
    Marion
