Eli, thanks for the heads up. My Dr. and his RN mentioned that hand and foot syndrome was one of the side effects of Xeloda, and to use a good cream. We have a good cream, so I rubbed it on my feet this morning and put my socks back on. Using a hand lotion on my hands as well. So far, no side effects from the new chemo treatment I received yesterday afternoon. Just up all night from the Dexamethason.

candrewsSpectatorShari, I am just starting Xeloda this weekend, 1500mg twice a day for 14 days out of 21. I might be looking for side effect tips also. Along with the Xeloda, I will also be receiving my first treatment of Irinotecan tomorrow. I am really nervous about this treatment plan. I have been receiving FUDR in my liver infusion pump for 4 months with zero side effects. Prior to that, I was receiving a treatment of Gemzar with slight side effects that lasted about 36 hours.
Best wishes to you!Cindy
candrewsSpectatorThanks for the update Kris and hang in there!

I will ask my oncologist about transplant this Friday. I asked the surgeon previously about it. He said it was not an option because the tumors would reappear while in recovery.
Thanks for the prayers!
CindycandrewsSpectatorCathy, where did you have your transplant done at? I read this article this morning and found it very interesting. I am going to mention transplant again, at my Dr. appointment this Friday.

candrewsSpectatorHi Kris!
Glad to hear you are home. Please keep us posted and be sure and let us know what Dr. Nancy has to say.Cindy
candrewsSpectatorHi Kris! Still thinking about you and praying for you! Kris, I went back and looked at some of your older posts. Looks like we have the same pump. I sure am hoping that it is not the pump!
CindycandrewsSpectatorI will continue to pray for you Kris!

candrewsSpectatorNew Year’s Eve chemo party might work out for me! I will bring a cheese ball and crackers if it does! We are going to put together my schedule at my next appointment. We should end up with 9 or 10 here for Thanksgiving. And since I feel GREAT, my husband and I will be doing the cooking. You are right Grover, it was great to meet another survivor. And yes, EVERYDAY COUNTS!
Cindy
candrewsSpectatorThanks everyone! @ Pamela – Of course I knew what pants he would be wearing , but he also told me which doors he would be coming in and approximately what time. Actually my husband saw him before I did and said “there he is”! And his wife is a wonderful person too! Now that I will be receiving chemo through my chest port, our paths could cross more often!
Have a great day everyone! Rain here in Indiana for the next 2 days. I have plenty to do inside to get ready for Thanksgiving!Cindy
candrewsSpectatorHello everyone! Guess who I got to meet at the hospital last Friday? If you guessed Grover or Captain with the prayer pants, you are correct! Is it weird for me to say that I found it so exciting to meet someone with the same rare cancer as I have, that lives so close to me and goes to the same Doctors?
Cindy
candrewsSpectatorHi Kris! I have been thinking about you and wondering how you have been doing. I am so sorry to hear this, and wish there was something I could do for you. My pump has not caused me any pain or discomfort. Is this Oncologist going to contact your other oncologist and/or surgeon for a consultation on this? Every night I say prayer for everyone that has CC. Tonight I will say an extra prayer for you!
Sending you sunny thoughts from Indiana!Cindy
candrewsSpectatorI love Gallagher, Grover! And thanks for reminding all of us that we do not have an expiration date stamped on our foot! I have a couple of songs that always come to mind when I struggling with this horrible disease – Tom Petty “Won’t Back Down” and Ted Nugent “Stranglehold”!
