I too am so sorry for your loss and know that no words can easy the pain. Try to replace the pain in your heart with fond memories. Your Mom is no longer suffering and is now in a better place and will live on forever in your heart & memories. She will always be with you, until you meet again.

I do agree, for those still fighting, don’t give up. There is always hope.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you & your family.

    Janet,

Great attitude! It sure is complicated, isn’t it? I think you are a superwomen and you do deserve to be self indulgent at times to keep your sanity. You are lucky to be near the beach. Go often and relax & be comforted by it. Take care Janet. Thinking of you.

    Hi Gavin,

I’m glad you are getting out from under the snow & ice over ther and I hope your Mum gets a chance to get out soon. We have had a lot of freezing cold & two major snows, but today it is almost 30 degrees and tomorrow is looking even better. I am not fooling myself into thinking this is it tho’ as I know we aren’t out of the woods yet. Yes, it is even cold in Florida. They have had some freezing & snow. Not good for the prices of fruit. I don’t think any of this has affected Marion either. :) The weather all over has been really strange this year and now that devastating earthquake in Haiti. How sad. :(

Everyone take care and my best wishes to all.

    Elaine,

I didn’t get involved in a group, but I know others have and I am sure they will be chiming in soon. You were atleast fortunate to have had a good experience to remember in the end and yes, he is no longer suffering, but now we have to learn how to go on and that isn’t easy. I think in the beginning we are still in shock and have so many things to do and think about and then all of a sudden it hits you and you realize he is never going to be here again. For me it has been over 16 months and it is still hard. I have good days & bad, but hopefully there are more good than bad as time goes on. I have come to the conclusion that the sadness and loneliness never really goes away, we just learn how to live with it and go on. We will always miss our husbands and remember the lives we had before. I try to keep busy and not dwell on things too much, but that is not always easy. We have all been helping & supporting each other as time goes on and I hope you will keep coming back too as we all know what it is like and we all understand and care. Take care Elaine and keep coming back when you need to. We are all here for you, too.

    Love & Hugs,

Keep posting them. They are wonderful and I am sure there are always a few on the site that can use the support at any given time. I know I sure do. It’s going to warm up here a bit starting tomorrow. Not sure for how long tho’. What did you think of that game?!?!?! :(

    Margaret,

Jim passed away on Sept 2, 2008. 2 months after his 62nd birthday. I found this site a few days later and am so greatful for all the support I have gotten here. I was almost hoping you wouldn’t ask, but since you have, I will try to explain. Please keep in mind that every case is different and there is always hope.

In Jim’s case things went very quickly, which as you have probably found from reading on the site, is not always the case. There really is no rhyme or reason to this disease and it seems to treat everyone differently. He appeared to be perfectly healthy until around the middle of July when his first symptoms appeared. He had every test imagineable and some more than once, but the problem was not found. As his symptoms worsened & multiplied, cancer was suspected. A needle biopsy was done and also a Pet Scan. That was when we were told it was CC. That was a week before he passed. For us it was less than 2 months from the first symptoms to when he passed away. For some it is shorter and for many it is longer. Some on this site have lived with it for several years and there are some being treated successfully. In our case the cancer had progressed too far before we were even aware that it was there. This type of cancer seems to be very slow growing, but also many times does not show any symptoms until it is too late. I hope I have exlaining this so that you will not give up hope. Please “keep the faith” and keep trying, no one knows for sure how things will go.

Please feel free to email me by clicking on e-mail on the left side of the screen under my name if you have questions of just need someone to talk to.

I am thinking of you both and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, hoping for the best.

    With Love & Hugs,
    Darla

    Margaret,

I’m in Plymouth which is about half way between Sheboygan & Fond du Lac. My husband was 62 and had been at the Milwaukee VA also. I felt such a connection to you when I read your story. Jim & I met when I was 15 & he was 17. We were together for over 45 years. I do know what you are going through. You have found the best place to be for help, strength and support. Everyone here is so caring and they all truely understand. I am so glad you found your way here.
