    Sarah,

Thanks for sharing that wonderful news. I agree with Kris. John would have been a wonderful uncle & so very proud. I too hope that little Owen will give you some joy in your life. I hope you are doing OK. I do know how hard it all is.

    Jim,
I am so sorry to hear that your sister is having such a hard time of it. I hope she will find some relief and improvement soon. If things don’t improve going back to the hospital would probably be a good idea. I will be hoping for the best. Keep in touch and let us know how she is doing.

Cyndi, That is so true. I think we were those people too before it happened to us. Pauline, you are right, we can all learn from this. I think we are all more sensitive to others because of what we are going through. I too am working at trying to get beyond the anger & disappointment. I guess we need to try to open up to those we trust and are close to and let them know what we are thinking and feeling.

    Amy,

I think we all have experienced what you are feeling. For everyone else, life goes on, but for those of us who have lost a loved one, someone important to us who was a major part of our lives, it will never be the same. Just know that we all understand and you can come here and talk or just rant & rave all you want. As Pam said, we really do all understand and care.

    Dear Hollie,

I agree with Marion. I think hospice would be a good choice at this time to control the pain and suffering Sophie is experiencing. It is all so sad, how this disease affects everyone it touches. First and foremost the patient, but also the family, loved ones and caregivers. Please give my best and a big hug to Sophie from me when you see her. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My husband had one approximately 10 years before CC was diagnoised. His actually burst in the ER just before surgery.

    Hi Marion,

Don’t know if this is related, but my husband’s appendix burst & was removed but it was way before he started to have the problems related to CC. (that we knew of, or were aware of) I want to say it was about 10 years previous. After seeing some of the posts I too wonder if there is any connection as we now know that although we were not aware of the CC it probably had been there for years. A year or so before that he also had a problem where his kidneys almost failed and after outpatient IV’s he was fine and never had a recurrance until all the issues that lead to the CC diagnosis. It is interesting now, when you think back and start to put these things together.

I was hoping you would have some time for yourself in NYC too, as it really is a great place to visit, especially during the holidays!

    Hi John,

I’m also wondering how you are getting on. I replied to you at Cancer Compass and haven’t seen any more posts from you so I hope you are doing OK. I am hoping you will be posting on this site again soon. As you can already see, there are many wonderful people here ready & willing to give help & support or just lend a sympathtic ear when needed.

Possibly you were approved for surgery and are recouperating. Let us know how you are doing when you can.

I forgot to mention the red coat. I also got a red coat & wore it for the holidays last year. My first without my husband. It doesn’t change anything, but it does make you feel a bit better to do something for you wether you need it or not. I figure, if you want it, go for it!
