    GracefulMeadow86,

I am so sorry for your loss. You are so right, it is not fair. Remember him now in your heart and memories. He will always be near. Try to take comfort in knowing that for him the pain and suffering is now over and he is at peace. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Just a thought. I also wonder if the fact that people travel all over the world more often and easily than years ago, if the incidence of picking up the parasite in countries where it is more prevelant is why we are seeing these increases in other countries.

I have not heard anything relating to prednisone, and I also had the same type of reaction years ago and had a long regime of treatment and immune system issues. However, I do not have CC . It was my husband, who passed from CC. Yes, it all does make you wonder, does it?

I find that pictures give me comfort, but I must admit that in the beginning I went somewhat overboard. I was going through pictures and had a lot around. I have cut that back now to my favorites that remind me of good times that we had together. I still have a hard time pusing myself to do things, but I am working on it. Yes it sucks, no matter what, and we all have to learn how to accept it and go on in our own way and time.

    Nancy,

My oldest son’s birthday is also on St. Pat’s day and his name is Patrick. I will definitley be thinking of you and John and doing something good to honor him and all the others who have passed from or are fighting this disease. Let’s all pay it forward. :)

    Terry,

That is great news. I think it is a big step in the right direction. I cooked years ago, but the last several years we ate out a lot. Well, I don’t get out as much now and eating out alone is hard for me to do, so I probably haven’t been eating the best, but have done a few things in the slo-cooker of late and felt like you that it is a huge accomplishment.

I will be thinking of you on the 17th. Take care Terry.

    Ziggydog,

I am so sorry you are having to face all of this. My husband was 62 and I was 60 when he passed away from CC. I too had no idea of how I could face life alone. After all, I had known him since I was 15. We had been together 24/7 forever. Well, it is now almost 2 1/2 years later and although it has not and still is not always easy, I am still here and managing the best I can. You will be OK and having your daughter there with you will help. You will lean on and support each other. We are all stronger than we think we are when we have to be. My boys are in their 40’s and it was hard for them too, but they are doing OK. I found this site a few days after Jim passed and being here and belong to this special group was the best thing I could have done and so have you. We will all be here for you to help and support you and to listen when you need to vent your feelings. There is nothing you can say that hasn’t been said before. We all know what it’s like to be dealing with all of the things that come from being touch by this disease. The coming days & weeks will not be easy, but try to take care of yourself, too. You will need all the strength and support you can can get to help get you through this.
