    Dearest Jenny,
I’m glad you feel comfortable coming here to express your feelings. We’re here for you – always.

5 months…that’s just a grain of sand on the shore. There is so much going on in your life that you wished to share with Jeff. His presence is in your heart, soul, and mind.

Jeff will be with you at your daughter’s graduation. How proud he would be of her, and of you and your family.

Jenny, be gentle with yourself. You don’t sound like you’re being crazy. You sound like someone who loved her husband to the nth degree. There is no timeframe on grief.

Dear Joann — You and David were blessed with such love. Without that undying love, your grief would not be so profound. And that is the irony of this heartrending tragedy.

My heart aches for you, Joann.

Eli, you present an interesting question. This is a cancer for which there is scant information.

My husband Brad died in 2008 as the end result of CC. He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) in the 1970s. He had his colon removed in 1982. In 2004 he was diagnosed with PSC (primary sclerosing cholangitis) and in 2005/2006 with CC.

As Brad recalled, his mother probably had UC. In “those days” UC was considered a stress disorder. Clearly not so.

As far as Brad’s CC, UC does not cause cholangiocarcinoma, but many CC patients have suffered with UC. Brad’s CC may have been simmering for at least 30+ years.

    Dearest Gavin,
You are a child of wonderful parents who instilled in you love, loyalty, responsibility, empathy, and consideration. Who could ask for more. What a blessing you are to your mother and those around you, including those on this forum.

    I am thinking of you.

Dear Kathy — I wish I could’ve met your father in person. What an extraordinary person. You are so blessed to have him as a dad. And he is so blessed to have you as a daughter.

This is a man who will be long remembered with honor and love. Thank you for sharing the life of such a great man with us.

Dear Michelle – I’m sorry you’re going through this. “Firsts” are difficult, but your first is so new. Under the circumstances, I believe you get to put yourself above the rest and do what is good for yourself. Healing and recovery is in store for you now.

Dear Rob — your promise of “in sickness and in health” is exemplified in your postings. Your heart is pure and loving. You and Sue clearly have a beautiful marriage. And what a terrific dad too!

Being my husband’s caregiver during his fight was draining, but also rewarding. It was my blessing and honor to be there for him. He would’ve done the same for me. We spent a lot of time reading to each other. Our favorite writings were from Henry David Thoreau.

I’m thinking of you. We’re all thinking of you here.

Dear Susie — I’m glad you tried acupuncture. (and it didn’t hurt!) In the past, I’ve been a supporter and user of Chinese medicine and herbs in conjunction with traditional medicine.

Something I have used for seasickness are wristbands with little pressure buttons on them. Many folks I know have used them and they are readily available at drugstores. It sounds like the seed treatment you are using for nausea.

    Wishing you the best.

Dear Jean — welcome back. I’m newly back to the board as well after a long absence, probably about the time you left.

I’m sorry to tell you, if you don’t already know, that Lisa passed a few weeks ago.

I also live in WA, in Redmond. Used to live on Whidbey Island until this past summer. My husband, Brad, passed from CCA in 2008. I recall that you, I, Lisa, and others were to meet for dinner a few years ago. I couldn’t make it. Wish I had.

I’m sorry you’re in the midst of these challenges again. Swedish is certainly one of the best centers. Brad was with Virginia Mason. Dr. Kozarek was his GI doc, and Dr. Picozzi his oncologist. I don’t know if this is an option for you, but Dr. Gores at Mayo is the best regarding CCA. I’m hopeful that your surgery this week will get you back on track. You deserve the best.

Jean, I live close enough to you that if you need assistance in any way, I can be there for you. My email is accessible on this board.
