Yes he has been in pain, Im not sure what type of antibiotics but they will keep him on levaquin until surgery. They have him on hydro morphine for pain….he just pushes a button when he needs meds. He has never had this much pain with one of these infections. Tomorrow they will attempt to put new stents in with the dr we really like and we do not have to go to Houston yet. But if they have trouble the gi dr here will send him because dr vauthey wants to do the drain because of the upcoming surgery I guess. I was heading home from the hospital and got a call from my very upset 6 year old(who is staying with his Aunt) and so I had to go get him. he needs his Mommy so he will go up to the hospital tomorrow to surprise his Daddy before the procedure starts.
So yes he is improving but will not completely be better until they get those nasty stents out and replace them. and look forward the the surgery when he wont need them at all!! Thanks so much for keeping up on your minds and in your hearts!!

    mphung,

I am new too and I am so blessed I found these wonderful people so you are in good hands. And rest assured i would relax some. my husbands tumor is 8 cm and that is because it actually shrunk some after chemo. And he is getting ready to have a liver resection. So imagine if they feel they can get my husbands out… 2.5 is tiny in our eyes! Everything sounds so positive!! Hang in there, I know for a fact how scary this is but there is alot of good things in your post. Also the docs always want to prepare you that sometimes they may find more when they open you up, its just a chance so try not to worry too much, focus on the positive!! I wish your Mom and your family the best and will be praying for you guys!!

Gordon is doing ok…morphine every 3 hrs. A lot of IV antibiotics. Md Anderson called me and if they have to do a drain that comes out of the skin then it needs to be done there if he just needs stents replaced that can be done here. Hope we don’t have to go but will do whatever they say. md Anderson is like a security blanket for us!! All were doing at the hospital right now is hurry up and wait.

His stents are infected. He’s had discomfort but his fever has been like 99. So crazy. His blood pressure was really low so they are watching him very close. He will be admitted and then they will have a plan to get him to md Anderson tomorrow. Not sure if I’m driving him or he will be transported.

Lisa I may be calling you soon….how are you doing now?

Yes there is also another dr that will help with the portal vein reconstruction and they said they only reason this surgery can be done is because My husband has a unique anatomy compared to the general public! Crazy right!! Total God thing! We have people praying for Gordon all over the world!!

I am realistic and understand what can happen though so I totally appreciate your honesty and want everyone to keep it coming!!!

Thank yall so much!! I should have reached out sooner! Gordon is having a liver resection and vein resection?? Not sure if im saying that right. It will be an eight hour surgery!! His surgeon at MDA is Dr. Vauthey! He got a hug from me because I had said whoever gives us good news about surgery will get a hug!!! He gladly accepted! And Dr. Javle is the medical oncologist. Amazing drs, it is worth the trip to Houston! I don’t want to give false hope to anyone but I didn’t even think they could do anything if the portal vein has cancer. They will remove 50% of his liver.

Oh girl! You sound like a go getter for sure!! I like your attitude. My husband was diagnosed at 44 and it was that a huge shock!!! You will be in my thoughts and prayers. The Livestrong program is a great one that can help you find the support you need. They have been amazing for us with our 6 year old. It is so hard to explain unknown but we have a strong faith in God that gets us through. We also ended up going to MD Anderson to seek their opinion and they opened doors for us that we previously didn’t think could open.

    Hang in there!!

we are new to the sight as well!
