Procedure cancelled. This hospital stay has been “wait five minutes, something will change”. They decided the ERCP is just too risky and the antibiotics seem to have gotten rid of the blockage. They were unsure they were going to be able to get a stent in, so I guess it is better this way. They did warn us, as all of us know, that we may be back next week for the same problem, but we will take this today. They are putting in a PICC line and tomorrow he will go home on IV antibiotics for the forseeable future. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts. They mean so much!
highsmithMemberThanks Marion!
We are hopeful too.highsmithMemberMelanie-
I am so sorry that this has impacted your family like it has. My dad had already retired when he got sick, so we are very lucky that it was not a financial impact, but it is hard no matter what. I hope you can find a way to make everything work for your family and bring peace.

highsmithMemberThe much dreaded “stent ERCP” is being performed tomorrow. We had to sign off on anything they will need to do. Nine hours ago, they told us an ERCP was to risky, as with a 90% colon resection, 40% pancreas and 60% liver resection, my dad’s placement of organs is one in six billion. They plan to try their damndest to make it work.
highsmithMemberMy dad has CC and we did seek multiple opinions, but it never delayed tx. guess if surgery is the option you are facing and want a second opinion, then you need to wait, but I would jump at chemo or radiation if someone is willing to do it.

highsmithMemberVal,
Welcome to this little family. It is so good to hear you had a successful resection and are doing well!!!!!! Very encouraging! Keep doing well and living life!

highsmithMemberTom,
I second Lainy that another opinion is in order. I have read and heard of several people who reduced tumors to an operable point and had successful resections. Seek out aggressive surgeons!

highsmithMemberMy dad has the Red Cross to thank for his life. He has had dozens and they are the easiest thing. He always feels good as soon as they are done and is peppy for days!!!! Don’t worry a bit!!!
highsmithMemberWe have the same problem. When my dad has a blood infection, it is present and always shows up right away, yet he still gets fevers and nothing shows up, even after days and days of cultures. He has no drains, no open wounds, they are perplexed…
highsmithMemberNancy-His onc. knows of the fever. He had blood work yesterday and five days of IV antibiotics last week in the hospital. His fever broke overnight, but is back on and off today. We may do home IV antibiotics Friday. I hope I can get it set up.
highsmithMemberI am so sorry to hear of Linda’s passing, albeit means she is in a better place.
I hope all of you have peace in the coming months. Linda was a joy to see post and I loved her tag line…and may have to use it in the right moment.STacey
highsmithMemberHans-
I never, personally, emailed or spoke with Kris, but she was light and bright and brings much hope to all of us touched by cc. I hope she is setting heaven on fire with her BBQ and margs! It took enormous care and compassion to share Kris’s final day. I think she really has been an inspiration. May peace be with you in the coming days.
