Hello, Carlos – it’s good to hear from you but I’m sorry to hear the cancer has reared its ugly head again.

My cat, Laura, was an absolute Godsend for my sister. Sue would talk to her and pet her and Laura slept on her bed when Sue was feeling really bad. Like Pam, I wouldn’t let Sue clean Laura’s litter tray and we both became scrupulous about hand-washing, but I believe the blessings Laura provided outweighed the disadvantages.

Pam, I’ve been on fluoxetine for some time, mainly for debilitating over-anxiety but I’m glad it’s keeping depression at bay, too; I couldn’t bear to go down that route again.
I think fluoxetine may be Prozac, but I’m not sure.
I don’t remember bad initial side effects, but I do remember being told to start them very gently and not to stop them suddenly.
I do hope the symptoms subside quickly. Sending love and hugs to you all.

I’m so very sorry to hear John has died. My thoughts are with you and your family and I sincerely hope the memory of your bad experience is soon diminished by the much happier memories you have of John. It broke my heart to see my lovely sister in such terrible distress a few days before she died, but I was “lucky” in that she slipped into unconsciousness and passed away gently.
I still have flashes of those really painful memories, but happier ones are starting to push their way through now.
