    Dear Steven,

Welcome to our group. I’m sorry your family has been on this journey with so many ups and downs already. I am very sorry to hear the surgery didn’t offer the cure your Mom deserves.

However, I am very impressed with how organized you have been and how much you have done to look into clinical trials and get second opinions. I truly hope the results of the genetic testing opens up some other avenue for your Mom to explore.

If not too much trouble, a suggestion might be to copy/paste your post under introductions so more of our members may see it.

    Hi Kim,

Welcome to our group. I’m very sorry to hear of your sister’s diagnosis, but happy that you’re helping to ensure she gets the best treatment possible. My mother was also inoperable, but we’re very fortunate that she’s feeling great at 2 years out. Also, there are some who started as inoperable but after having treatments – or getting second opinions- were able to have surgery.

It sounds like you already researched the main home page and found the major cancer centers-
Main thing is to find a center that has an interdisciplinary team and has a lot of experience with CC. In Duke’s post below he mentions which ones seem to be most widely used by our board members.

Good luck and let us know how you make out,

    Dear Carol,

I think hospice and home health care work differently in the US, so I hope some of our overseas members can chime in. However, I wanted to let you know that I wish your Dad and your whole family as much comfort as possible during this time. I hope it goes well with the consultant- let us know how you make out.

    Best wishes,
    Catherine

    Dear Kevin,

I’m very sorry to read this, and so sorry your Mum had to go through the broken arm as well. You have done so much to help her with that balance with quality of life. I wish you and your family best wishes and comfort. You will be in my thoughts. Thank you for keeping us updated and sharing to help others along as well.

    Take care,

    Mary,
Thank you for adding to the many who are thankful for all Chuck has contributed. After your post I took the time to reread this whole thread, and it is so spot on. The homepage has a wealth of knowledge for newly diagnosed, but this should be a must read as well.
    Take care,
    Catherine

    Hola!
Welcome to our group and thank you for sharing. It seems we’ve been hearing if many who are being diagnosed very young. I am happy that they were able to operate and look forward to hearing great progress reports in the future.

    Dear Chuck’s daughter,

Your Dad and you family have been forefront in my thoughts. My first impression of Duke was that he was a lot like me and liked numbers. Then I found out he was REALLY smart with numbers. I was drawn to that we both wanted to see the curve move right- it was the bell curve that showed the normal survival for CC patient.s. Please tell Duke he helped move the curve. So many people when diagnosed see the statistics and have no hope; your Dad gave hope to many.

I hope your family knows how many people your Dad helped with the information, humor, spirit and love he has shared.

There are so many who read these posts but do not join the conversations, so please know that the few of us responding are only a very small portion of those your Dad has touched,

I went back and looked at earlier posts and found this within the first thread:

    Hi Duke,
Thanks for your response to my post. I read your post to my husband, Norbert yesterday. It made him feel so much better than he has felt in quite a while. He had me look up your info and read him your posts about yourself. For the first time, since he was diagnosed, I saw him brighten up. I saw the old Norbert, the one who will not give up so easily without a fight. I felt I owed you a huge THANK YOU!!!!
Best of luck to you with your treatment!!!

This was just one post- there are so many Duke has touched. Please pass along thoughts, prayers, love and hugs,. And thank you so much for keeping us updated.

    Hi,

It’s so bittersweet to read Duke’s update and at the same time be so happy and relieved.

Mom met with oncologist today and scan still shows No Evidence of Disease. (We Love NED!!!!)

We also had blood drawn for Guardant360. I’m not sure if there’s no viable tumor if we’ll get meaningful results, but happy that her ONC was on board and pursued the genetic testing.

    Best wishes to all,

    Catherine

    Dear Darius,

It is so thoughtful of you to take the time and pass along key lessons learned and offer your contact to all. I was able to tell from your posts how much effort you were putting in to make sure there was no possible treatment overlooked.

I am very sorry for your loss.

    Catherine
