Thanks, Lainy, Marion, Gavin, and Peggy. I’ve been real strong and positive but you know, the last 24 hrs have kind of made me nervous. Ah well, onward and upward. I’m at work for a few hrs this morning before heading up the hill to the Cancer center. Any Lainy, as a boy, my first love of football came from Vince, Bart Starr et al……… Go cheese heads. My brothers were all Cowboys fans but I was different. :0)

    And an understandable response.

Thanks, Lainy. I’m just glad he was “firm”. My first scheduling for the surgery was this past Monday…..probably would have been under the “knife” before the chief surgeon knew about it. Fortunately, (I rather believe “being watched over”), the surgery scheduling got changed to next week so that the chief had time to be back, see it, and cancel it. Teddy, if that was you, thanks.

    Wittrock,

You can bet that my prayers are with you and your mom. You are a good daughter and it is wonderful that you have the ability to care for her. Keep your chin up and keep fighting.

    Sissy,

Not experienced enough yet to give advice, but just want you to know that I am rooting for you. Other opinions, in my limited experience so far, can vary greatly, even within the same hospital. So, like others here will tell you, take it to others for opinions.

    Praying for you, Sissy.

mn, thanks for your update. It has to be difficult to deal with all the things that you are but I certainly commend you for the strength you are showing and the love you have for your Mom. As others have stated, in this day and age there is no reason for people to be in misery. Just keep on those doctors. We love and care for you and your mom.

    Margaret,

Give Tom my best with the tube exchange. “Mother knows best”, is my motto. We keep trying to convince our daughter of that who insists the doctor is always right and her mom knows nothing about children. :0)

    Keep the faith.

    Pepehorse,

One characteristic of chemo is that it kills off a lot of blood cells that fight bacteria/viruses. When your body loses part of its ability to fight bacteria, infections can pop up anywhere. That’s why they caution chemo patients to not do things to come into contact with things/people that could communicate germs and disease. They even caution about shaving….don’t get cuts. As Lainy has stated, perhaps there are some alternatives that don’t affect the immune system quite as severely.

Welcome, sj. I don’t have a lot of input because I am new to all of this, but just wanted to add my love and prayers for you and your husband.

Lindsay, I feel for you and your feeling of helplessness. Be strong. I’m sure others with the experience on this Board will respond soon with some great suggestions.

Adam, you really need to find a punching bag at a gym you can paint a big “CC” on. Really. I can feel all the pent up anger. Another way is to find something physical to do. I have been out digging post holes, repairing fences, even a run or long walk. If you were here, we would go for a nice long horseback ride. It really does help.

Again, my prayers have included you and your lovely wife Petra and children.
Our families are our prized possessions.

    God bless you, Adam.

Our love and condolences, pgaska. I can assure you that I’m just a little more willing to donate money to causes like this than I used to be.

    God Bless

Simon, I’m so sorry for what you are going through. We don’t know why we have to go through what we do, but a wise old man once told me that only the best get to go through the toughest “refining fires”.

Also, sounds to me like you need to get some “attitude” with the doctors. (maybe you have already). We will do whatever it takes to protect the ones we love, no?

Be strong, my friend….for you and for her. You are great.

    Adam,

Bless your heart. I just want you to know that we are all thinking of you and your wife and children. I applaud how strong you are being. My wife is doing the same. I pray that the doctors will find the solution to her “vicious circle”. This forum is so great……I just want to fly around the world and give out big hugs and lend a shoulder for whatever is required: (crying on, punching, holding up, etc.)

As I am brand new to this disease so I don’t have the expertise yet to offer answers to your questions, but I’m sure there are others who will chime in with something.

    Keep the faith, Brother.
