    Hi Mary,

My daughter, Lauren, was on Gem/Cis for a long time. She felt very tired and achy a few hours after getting chemo. She would usually run a low grade fever. Not high enough to go to the ER. She would feel this way for a few days and then say she felt better than before having chemo. We found that taking nausea meds as directed around the clock for a few days helped. If Lauren didn’t do this and got nauseous, she ended up vomiting even after taking meds. So I would suggest staying on top of those. Like everyone else has said, everyone reacts differently to chemo. For the most part, Lauren was able to do a lot after the first few days and never let it stop her from having fun and enjoying life. I hope your husband has a mild reaction. For that matter, no reaction would be even better! Take care, Mary and best wishes to your husband.

    Hugs,
    -Pam

    Dear Milena,

I am so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. It is so difficult to talk about death with our loved ones that have this illness. We want to be happy, upbeat, and positive for them. I’m sure your Mom is at peace now. Please don’t worry about the past. It cannot be changed no matter how much we wish it could. I know it hurts so much to lose the ones we love, but hopefully one day the hurt will lessen and memories will bring joy. Like many of my friends and family have told me, I will tell you…One day at a time.

    Love,
    -Pam

    Hi Michelle,

I wanted to welcome you to the site as well. You seem to be doing the same thing I did when my daughter, Lauren, was diagnosed with this cancer. I was obsessed with this site and read everything I could get my hands on!! Lauren went through over a year and a half of different chemos and radioembolization with Theraspheres. She took a chance on a radical surgery and sadly ended up passing away June 9th at the young age of 27. I think you are doing everything right. Let your Mom live life to the fullest. You are trying to become well informed, which is great. It makes you feel like you can ask so many more questions of the doctors with confidence. Ask about different treatments. Come here and ask questions, vent, cry, whatever you need to do to feel better. As a caregiver, it is so stressful and difficult. I hope your Mom continues to feel well. We are all here for you.

    Love,
    -Pam

The most ridiculous study I have ever heard. The coffee is ok, but smoking?? It might help with PSC, but then there is lung cancer, emphysema, etc.

    Hi Porter,

You have every right to feel all the emotions you are feeling. This cancer is scary. I’m sorry you have to wait for scan results. I think that is the one thing that causes everyone such anxiety. I wish the results could be read instantly. Happy Birthday to your dear son. Children are such a bright spot in our lives. I am hoping you have great scan results and can resume chemo in the near future. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

    Love,
    -Pam
