    Hey Melissa,

I think I use the wrong term all the time. I think when Dr. Z talks about rounds he means each time you have chemo is considered a round. Lauren gets her chemo 1 week on and 1 week off. When he says she will have 8 more rounds of chemo, he means she will be sitting in the chemo chair 8 more times. I take a cycle to mean the whole amount of rounds together. Now I am getting confused!! I would just ask him the next time you see him. Take care.

    Hi Susie,

So glad everything is going well for you. We haven’t been through this with Lauren, but common sense to me would be every 3 months. Then, if something did show up, you could nip it in the bud quickly. I am so happy for you.

Eli- Love the cartwheel man. That is so awesome. Really cracked me up and I sure do love a good chuckle.

    Kris,

I don’t think of you as 48. I think of you as one of the young’uns. I am not sure if I could handle being called Momma Pam by you though. Tiff calls me her CC Momma Pam. Haha. Technically, I could be her Mom because I would have been 24 when she was born. Now you young whipper snapper, I would have been 6. I understand though because I am still young in my heart too. Take care.

    Grover,

Glad to see you on here again, but I already knew you were doing great. So happy you had clean scans. I know you have gone through some rough times, but look at you now. What an inspiration. I wish everyone had such a positive outcome. Keep up the great work.

Rest in peace, Jim. We will all continue to battle this cancer and hopefully find a cure. We know you will be guiding us from Heaven. Thanks for making a difference while you were here with us on Earth. Prayers for your family.

    Maria,

You are such an inspiration!! Wow. I love how you said you put on your boxing gloves, got your sword and were ready for battle. Love the fighting spirit. Go get ’em, girl.

    Dear Biscuit,

The nausea, vomiting, and fever are all listed as side effects of Gemzar. However, stomach pain and shortness of breath seem like something more serious. I would call her doctor immediately. Things can get worse quickly and you don’t want your Mom to suffer. I am not a doctor, just a Mom with a daughter who has CC and I question everything that doesn’t seem right.
    Hoping for the best.

    Another update.

Lauren is doing ok. Not feeling terrific yet. She still has the pain in her chest, but not quite as bad. She switched her breakthrough pain med to Hydrocodone and Tylenol instead of fast acting Morphine. It helps ease the pain more. She hasn’t been quite as peppy as usual. She did manage to go shopping most of the day with her brother today. She went on a bike ride yesterday, but had to cut it short because it really wiped her out. She has been falling asleep earlier in the evening too. Her ONC thinks she is doing well. All of her liver functions are normal. She will be having a CT the end of this month to see how things are going. She started back on her chemo last week. Gemzar and 5-FU. No problems with that as usual. Next week we will all be participating in Relay For Life. We had really sweet bright green and hot pink t-shirts made for our team I will update again in a few weeks. Hopefully this stuff is working!!
