The doctor interviewed in this article is Lauren’s surgeon should she ever be able to have surgery. Dr. Christopher Sonnenday is such a sweet man. My daughter, Kristen, was the anesthesiologist for a liver transplant Dr. Sonnenday did just last week. She thinks the world of him. Thanks for the article, Marion.

    Hi everyone,

We got some Balneol and a sitz bath. Lauren feels so much better. Getting ready to go out to dinner for her and my husband’s birthdays. Thank you all for the terrific advice. Take care.

Thanks everyone for getting back to me so quickly. It is comforting to know many of you have been in the same boat, but a painful one at that. Lauren has tried wipes, vaseline, Preparation H. The wipes were too irritating. The others were too greasy. Gio got her some Desitin, bless his heart. That seems to work the best although the smell reminded us of when my youngest child, Ryan, was a baby. He is now 20!!

Susie – She was still taking her stool softeners up until a few days ago and she quit those for a while. I would love to cook for you if you lived closer!!

Cindy – We will ask the doctor about “butt paste” and a prescription for her diarrhea if she has it again. This is the first time in 12 chemos that she has had anything like this. I hope you are having fun with your new puppy!

Eli – I will ask her doctor if we can get those prescriptions in the States. Your poor wife. I feel so bad for her having problems every chemo. Lauren has been very lucky to not have many side effects.

Thank you all so much. I knew I could count on you to help us out. Take care and God bless.

    Thanks Marion,

I don’t think I explained myself well. Lauren and the nurse were laughing together. The nurse was not laughing at Lauren. She had looked at Lauren’s chart and said “Tomorrow is your birthday! You can’t have a sore butt on your birthday!” We all thought it was funny. Believe me, if someone was making light of something and we didn’t think it was funny, we would let them know about it. So, no need for irritation. It was all in fun. Can I get Penaten Creme at any pharmacy? Thanks a lot, Marion. Take care.

    Hi Duzalot,

I just wanted to welcome you to the site. I am my daughter’s “assistant” as well. She doesn’t like to hear much about CC. It upsets her too much and she just wants to focus on being happy and living each day to the fullest. So if I hear a great story about someone being able to have a resection or someone having great scans, I let her know so that she can continue to have hope. I hope your stepmum will be able to have surgery soon. Take care and all the best to you.

    Dear Jose,

As long as your sister is living, there is always hope. I have a daughter who is only 25 and has CC. I promised her I will do everything to help her and never give up hope that one day she will be cured. I hope you will do the same for your dear sister. My Lauren has intrahepatic CC with a large tumor on one side of her liver and five small tumors on the left. She has had twelve rounds of chemo and has seen a lot of shrinkage in her tumors. We hope one day that she will be able to have surgery. Please keep thinking positive thoughts and welcome to the site. I hope we can help you. Take care.

    Suzanne,

I can’t tell you how happy we are to hear of your Dad’s great progress. Maybe grouchy is a good thing, probably means he is a fighter!! I can’t believe your sweet, funny Dad could ever be grouchy. Well, maybe. My daughter is the sweetest thing in the world, but some of the drugs they give her make her pretty darn grumpy at times. We wish you all the best. Can’t wait to hear from the Captain, himself.

    Love, -Pam & Lauren

    Dear Kris,

I am hoping and praying all goes well for you. I used to love liver and onions when I was a little kid. That was before I ever knew what it was!! Gross!! And as for the pregnancy test, I think the way this cancer makes most of you feel, getting pregnant is by far the LAST thing on your mind. Haha. Take care.

I woke up this morning and first thing I did was pray for Grover. I have been thinking and worrying about him all day. We are one big family here and it really shows in times like these. Bless you Grover and your family.
