    Hello Fred,
    Thanks for sharing!
On the positive note, you overcame this the first time and were free for 4 years! I find that amazing. Hopefully you will experience the same outcome on the second treatment. That’s what is disheartening about CC, even with any treatment there is a possibility of reoccurrence. Try to get a few opinions. That’s so important to continue living a healthy lifestyle in exercising and eating a nutritious diet.

    Keep us posted.

That’s what is disappointing to me when the oncologist gives once treatment option even though you feel it may not be the best for the individual and want to try clinical trials and they don’t unless you try chemo treatment and if it fails another one. There should be some cooperation or choice in the matter. I want this to change where they bring a few choices to the table and offer a trial from the beginning where perhaps a patient wants to take a change on an alternative to chemo.

    Hello Hopeful,
From my research and understanding, unfortunately chemo is not a guarantee from controlling the cancer. This is why I want oncologists to be open to several treatment options based on individual. This involves work, action, and getting more clinical trials. There should be more clinical trials on immunotherapy for CC which hopefully is more promising than chemo. Smart to check out clinical trial options and give him some recovery time in between.

    Hello 76%,
Yes CA19-9 is not the only reliable indicator to see if CC has spread or not. Scans seem more important to have monitored. If you don’t agree with your oncologist, you set the schedule on how often you want scans to monitor your CC.

Thank you for sharing on our site. Yes, situations move rapidly, as is the case with most of us. I remember the awful experience in the hospital with this diagnosis. It was very traumatic, but grateful for discovering this site and taking effort to learn and trust myself during this journey. I want a day where oncologists don’t rely on chemotherapy as the first choice of treatment. I am discovering most CC patients are different , and what may work on one may not in another. Each individual must be evaluated carefully. It makes logical sense to quit chemo if it is not working, due to unnecessary toxicity to the body. Other than diabetes did he have any other prior medical conditions pre–CC diagnosis? Still maintain great nutrition and a positive lifestyle. Please do get at least 3 opinions and use your best judgment based on research and what you may view as beneficial.

I have not researched this procedure, but sounds like a better idea then giving chemotherapy to the entire body. It would be nice if the tumor is target only, and no harm to the rest of the body or normal cells. Please keep us updated as I am sure all of us are curious. I hope it is successful!! All the best and keep good thoughts and perhaps will help others get a similar procedure.

    Hello Hopeseeker,
Welcome, and thank you so much for sharing. It takes courage. All of us are in that state of shock and not understanding how this evolved and possibly not even heard of bile ducts. It was a shocking experience for me as well. It’s great you are helping with good nutrition, supplements, small meals, positive outlook as these are components in healing also. Chemotherapy is a personal choice and I understand individuals respond differently, but as hard as it is don’t listen to a time frame of a doctor. No one can determine the exact time frame a person has to live. Whether they are correct or not does not matter, as you are trying to help and find options. Are there alternative you can seek other than chemotherapy that are suggested by the oncologist? What do they recommend? What type of chemo are they using?

I have no experience with clinical trial, but always keep it in mind when the time arrives and we want to try it. I would think your oncologist who is very knowledgeable about CC can suggest the trials available at the particular medical establishment. If you are not pleased with their trials, then try a couple of other top CC cancer medical centers. Here is a link to bile duct cancer clinical trials:

Thank you for joining this site as that is the best step to get support. It is crucial that you get at least 2-3 opinions from oncologists as they have different views for treatment, and research each option to make the best decision. What type of CC does he have and has it spread? What is his current treatment? Is surgery an option? I am not too sure about liver transplant and I know there are studies that show if they are successful or not for CC. He is very young and each individual who gets CC should be evaluated differently.
Was it definite through a biopsy that this is the diagnosis? Make sure he gets very good nutrition with great support and a positive outlook. We have to always look to treat the whole person.

    Please keep us posted.
