SpectatorKristin,
You have gotten good advice from the other moderators. The rapid accumulation of so much fluid is not a good sign. Hospice has a lot to offer and it does not mean he won’t be treated for the infection or other things that come up. It just changes the focus to his comfort and is a tremendous help for all involved. Hopefully your Dad can be encouraged to come home at this point. It is better for your family to be proactive and have care in place right away, no matter where he chooses to live. I wonder if he is in FL also to shield you and your sister from this, but is now needing you more than ever. Like the others, my heart goes out to you all having to go through this.

SpectatorDonna,
I would like to add my welcome. Thanks for your contribution to the foundation. I look forward to meeting you in Salt Lake City at the meeting.

SpectatorThat’s fabulous! The world is her oyster right now! You have every reason to be proud of your Lexi!

SpectatorI’m so glad o hear that this is helping keep you from despair/depression. We tend to either avoid meds or deny depression but it will strike the strongest of us at some time in life. Nice to hear you’re in better spirits going into the next loopdeloop on your own private roller coaster! Maybe you can get the grand kids this “creative” computer game called ‘Roller Coaster Tycoon’. My daughter loves it. You build your own amusement park but have to learn business skills along the way. Anyhow, I’d like your roller coaster to be mellow and smooth from here on! Lexi is a great name, by the way!

SpectatorLainey,
What “happy pills” are you on that have no side effects, if you don’t mind my asking?willow
SpectatorHorses,
I saw your post about your husband having “rally days”. That was so kind of you to share your experience with another going through similar circumstances. You’ve bedn married so long and Frank is only 63. Breaks my heart that this has happened in a mere 3 months. I respect Frsnks decision to not get tx, but did they address the fluid buildup so he can breathe easier? I am keeping you and Frank in my thoughts.

SpectatorKim,
My sister had y-90 with mixed success. Very few side effects. They did both sides of liver at same time (sometimes they do only half at a time). My sister had A little shrinkage of her tumors. Skill of interventional radiologist is important. Fatigue and a little pain as the tumors get inflamed when they’re radiated. Afterward, Sometimes they can’t tell if the tumor is totally dead afterward until they do surgery. It may still appear in ct scan but cells can be dead. A ten own Dr told me and Percy recently that a PET scan might show false positive metabolic activity in an area after y-90 so they don’t use that to evaluate. Anyhow, in my sisters case, they couldn’t treat the microscopic mets with y-90 so those were the problem later.
Wishing you all the best as you go forward with your treatment.

SpectatorLainey,
You are so funny… Even when discussing your own brain surgery! We are all concerned for your well being and are so glad you’re in good hands. Keep us posted on the plan. Many many warm regards and a hug,

SpectatorWonderful!

SpectatorLinda,
I am sorry for the loss of your beloved husband. You did to very best for him that you could. Feeling “out of your league” is how all of us would feel in this situation. Take in all the comforting, condolences and love.

SpectatorHow is a Tiffany doing these days?
willow
SpectatorAbsolutely! And this would also reduce risk of cancer cell needle tract seeding from biopsy (even though that risk is small… It happened to my sister).

SpectatorDear Linda,
I’m sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. Your lovely description of him gave us a better idea of the talented and interesting man he was. Peace be with you at this time of loss.
