I tried getting in the chat room one late night looking for someone to talk to, but I’m not sure I did it right. Couldn’t find anyone.
Marion…beef barley soup. OH BOY…one of my faves. In fact, just had some with my mom tonight. I like it really thick.

October 13, 2009 at 2:43 am #26451marionsModeratorWendy….don’t mean to butt in before Ron has a chance to answer you. I do have a suggestion and Ron may come up with something better yet. How about putting out the word: On this date…at this time…I would like to chat. Post it on this board and re-post a few days before, then another reminder on that day. I would love to see the chat room used.
MarionOctober 13, 2009 at 1:34 am #26450wendyvpSpectatorRon,
I noticed on one of your recent posts you said you were up at 4am this was followed by a number of people who are up at odd times of the night. So again I am asking why the chat room is not used more often. With a whole lot of us living in variious time zones across the world it would be nice to know there was someone out there to talk to when we cant sleep.October 13, 2009 at 12:46 am #26449ron-smithMemberMarion
Just imagine a big, squarish, box, that is larger than the volume of it’s contents. Ignore thoughts of eye-candy. Honest
I’ll let Gavin guide you through the food area, but a Swede is a small white turnip.
Kris
I assume you will stick to the west coast when you return to Scotland. There is nothing much wrong with the Ferry if you want to be near Dundee!
Take care
Ron
October 12, 2009 at 10:21 pm #26448marionsModeratorThanks Gavin…I make a Beef Barley Soup similar to this. But, was is a “swede”? Hmmm….this sounds so good. I feel all inspired to make this.
Best wishes back,
MarionOctober 12, 2009 at 9:04 pm #26447gavinModeratorKris,
Allegedly it does have one! Lol Well some people think it is anyway and it even has a beach, although not recommeded for getting a tan for about 99% of the year!
Marion,
Here’s a recipe for you. I used pretty much the same recipe and used veg stock instead of meat and it looked just like the bowl in the second photo on this site. Tasted pretty good and dad loves it, just the thing for these colder days. Plus his specialist recommend eating lots of soup so lots of soup is just what he’s going to get!

October 12, 2009 at 6:07 pm #26446marionsModeratorConsider me ignorant: I love any kind of broth but, don’t know anything about Scotch broth. What is in it?
Have to find the box covers for Curiously Cinnamon and Scots Porridge. Now, I am really curious.
MarionOctober 12, 2009 at 5:58 pm #26445marionsModeratorWendy…..when is your next appointment with the oncologist? Have blood test been taken eight weeks ago. also? Is is possible for scar tissue to have formed?
I am crossing my fingers for good news,
MarionOctober 12, 2009 at 11:37 am #26444wendyvpSpectatorThanks Gavin,
I checked them out seems it can go from 0 to 100 in 10 seconds, or anywhere in between. Will just have to be patient until I see the oncologist.October 12, 2009 at 9:34 am #26443devoncatSpectatorGavin,
I dont believe you. Dundee has posh parts?Kris
October 12, 2009 at 9:25 am #26442gavinModeratorHi Ron,
My dads the same when it comes to a fish supper in that he can only manange a little bit. So what we did was get one and share it between the three of us so that way he still gets his fish supper fix! It’s not as cold up here today, but I’ve still got a pot of scotch broth bubbling up for mum and dads dinners this week. That should do the trick if the temperature drops.
I hope it stays dry for you this week so that the builders can get a move on and get your roof fixed. Mum and dad had the builders in for 3 weeks over the summer due to a flooded kitchen so I can sympathise with the chaos. They had to move out so went to stay in a B&B in Broughty Ferry, the posh part of Dundee!!! Hope your builders do a better job this time around.
Dads had a good weekend, still been sleeping during the day, but not as much as he was the previous weeks. Been going back to bed after getting the rolls and the paper in the morning but staying up for the afternoon so thats an improvement. Pains also been not so bad having upped his meds so thats also a bonus and he seems to be in a much better mood right now so just taking the days one at a time. Hope you enjoyed your Curiously Cinnamon this morning, I now have this image of you on the box as the model for the cereal! Sort of like the guy on the Scotts porridge box!!
Take care
Wendy,
Sorry, I cant help you with that. Hopefully someone else will be along soon who can help. Have you tried using the search function here? Maybe that would help find something.
Best wishes to everyone.
Gavin
October 12, 2009 at 8:17 am #26441lalupesSpectatorI wish I could answer your question, Wendy. but I’m sure there are others who can help you & they’ll be on here before long. I hope you get reassurance from your oncologist very soon.
Love Julia x
October 12, 2009 at 7:39 am #26440wendyvpSpectatorCan anyone answer this question. can this thing grow 4cm X 2.5 in the space of 8 weeks??? Thats the size of your thumb. I am freaking out here waiting for the oncologist visit.

To be honest, I think I was the model for the box.
