    Mr J,
I’m so sorry to hear of the spread of cancer. I’ll be praying that the onc can find the right treatment to reverse the spread and restore your health. Hope you’ll have a very Merry Christmas in spite of this setback.

    Grace and Peace,

    Peony,
I can’t speak to your questions with any authority but I wanted to welcome you to our forum. You will find loads of compassionate support as well as helpful information here from people who “get it”. Most of us have walked the path you are on or are on it now so discussion here is not theoretical.

    God Bless!

    Hi Minnie,
Did they do a dye test to determine that the stents were draining? Are his liver numbers in a normal range or are they high? Do they know the source of the fluid around the liver? That would certainly cause pain. Do they have a plan to drain off this fluid build up? Praying that Karl will have relief soon.
    God Bless!

    Margaret,
I know how these recurrent infection bouts can take the wind out of the sails. Let’s expect that changing out the tube more frequently will end the cycle.

Grace and Peace to you both,

    d517,
That is great news! You know, if Carl keeps stringing these good three month reports together, pretty soon you are at a year and then two years…
You certainly have cause for a Merry Christmas.

Is there a plan for any chemo? Just wondering.

    Praying for Carl.

I like the 1.4 bilirubin. We sure love good news around here. We pray that it will keep coming.

    Blessings!

    Dear Lainy,
Donna and I thought we would be there for this day and are sad that we are unable. But we are with you in celebrating Teddy’s life which clearly touched and impacted many other lives. Teddy’s world was a better place because of him.

We pray that your grief will be quickly replaced with sweet memories and a continued sense of his presence.

    Love, Grace and Peace,

    Hi Betsy,
“What’s a girl to do?” indeed. Well you have been doing it. You’re fighting back and not letting it discourage you. You’ve had a bunch to deal with and are doing it with grace. Kudos to you!

I too am taking ursodiol 3x a day. Have no way of telling if it helps but it sure can’t hurt.

    Still praying…

    Tommygun,
Wow! From your Dad’s history, it’s obvious that he is a fighter. That will serve him well because he has a fight on his hands. This fight can be won – sometimes in one small skirmish at a time. Anything that buys him time is a victory. Praying for the next victory…

    Thirdone,
Great news! Your Dad is of particular interest to me as I am a fourteen year survivor. For cancer to recur after fifteen years defies all the odds so I’m sure docs are following closely. Please continue to post progress and I’ll continue to pray for the best outcome for your Dad.

    Hi Betsy,
Yes, I had a three day hospital stay first of Nov. for cholangitis while in Phoenix. So… the year long tube procedure seems to have been ineffective for the long term. Bile is flowing but is slowed which allows for an occasional flare up. As for the PSC diagnosis, they are now backing away from that and thinking it is more from radiation damage.

I am so sorry that your situation hasn’t changed. Is there discussion taking place to find another solution? I’ll continue to pray for a remedy. We need to get those tubes out of your body… it ain’t natural.

In the meantime, keep giving thanks that you are a survivor.

    God Bless!

    Kim,
Thanks for sharing your story. We love it when someone ‘gets one over’ on cancer and it’s often grim prognosis. Please allow us to follow your progress by posting here occasionally. May God continue to bless you and use you through the sharing of your story.

Thanks again for the congrats and well wishes.

Betsy – I should get out today. Another episode of cholongitis which I’m sure you too are familiar with. Between bouts, my life is so good I can’t hardly stand it. So the liver wizards here at Swedish are going to meet again and discuss my case to see if there is a non-surgical remedy. As you know, cholongitis can be serious but I have been fortunate so far. Since I haven’t seen any recent posts, things must be OK with you.

Lisa – I know Stanwood. My son and his family lived there for a few years. Nice town.

Thanks to all for the congratulations. This is my first grandaughter in twenty years – do you think she may get spoiled a bit?

Lainy. I think it is a beautiful picture of your “strong but gentle” ‘T’ kissing Chloe Grace and sending her on her way to meet her papa. BTW, I have a theory about that new baby smell that is on every newborn. That is the fragrance of heaven…

    God Bless!

    Amy,
Lainy is spot on (as usual). First, this is a forum that thinks it’s “family”. You’ll soon know what I mean. And kids should know what’s going on without excess detail, in my opinion. My grandaughter was six when I had my surgery. When I came home, I was told told to walk as much as I could tolerate as soon as I could. On one of my brief walks, my grandaughter told her mother she was going to go along with me “In case papa faints”. She understood that her papa was sick and she could help. Please keep us updated.

    God Bless!
