Grover, saw the same T-shirt in the gift shop last week! Can I use your recipe, but make a couple of substitutions? I am so happy for you!
Cindy
candrewsSpectatorThis is great news Grover! What chemo are you getting? I start my new regimine next Friday! I am praying that good news will be in my very near future!
Cindy
candrewsSpectatorLove your prayer pants Grover! Will be sending thoughts and prayers your way as you go through your CT scan this Wednesday!
candrewsSpectatorThank you so much everyone! I am so glad we have each other to “talk” to! I feel so much better already!
candrewsSpectatorI did have my CT scan today and then had a follow-up with my oncologist. Unfortunately, I did not receive the news that I had hoped to hear. There is no change in the tumors, plus he saw some new growth. But, we are not giving up, and we have come up with yet a new plan of attack. According to my son, “third time is a charm”. We are going to continue with the FUDR, plus I will receive a Xeloda pill and Irinotecan through my chest port. We will start this new regimine when I go back in 2 weeks. So, this will give my oncologist time to start fighting with the insurance company for aproval. Meanwhile, I will continue to fight even harder!

candrewsSpectator@ Cathy: I just found out 2 weeks ago that I was eligible for SSD. I had no that at age 55 I would qualify. I didn’t go looking for it, my husband’s medical benefits trust recommended that I pursue it. So, last week I got the ball rolling.
@ Lainy: I am walking on cloud 9 just because Grover is on here! Can’t wait for him to get back on and read his replies!candrewsSpectatorOh my gosh, Grover! I live 27 miles SW of Indy and my oncologist is Dr. Helft and my surgeon is Dr. House! I started seeing Dr. Helft in July, and I was fortunate enough to have received the liver infusion pump from Dr. House on August 8th. I have my appointment with Dr. Helft this Friday and will get my FUDR. Keep fighting, and hold out for the liver infusion pump! I feel blessed that I was able to get it! And, don’t worry about rambling, it was good to meet a fellow Hoosier on here!
candrewsSpectatorKris, I will start praying for your back pain to go away! The first time I was scheduled for my FUDR, my “numbers” weren’t where the oncologist wanted them to be. So, instead of a full strength dose, he gave me a half strength dose. Has your oncologist ever considered that? Also, just wondering, is the Gemcitabine going through your chest port?
candrewsSpectatorWay to vent Kris! Both of my kids (27 and 30) feel the same way! My son just told me last week that he had just had a discussion with someone about Walter Peyton. Regarding the fact that the NFL supports breast cancer awareness and not CC. Which reminds me, I need to get my wristbands ordered!
candrewsSpectatorHey Kris! Glad to finally hear from you. Congratulations on the news that the tumor is dying! I did not have the scan last Friday, I cancelled it at the last minute. The Dr. had ordered a scan of the chest, abdomen and pelvic area. My insurance would not “okay” the chest scan. I couldn’t get a hold of anyone at my Dr’s office to see if the abdomen & pelvic scan would give him what him needed. So, to play it safe, I had it cancelled. My Dr. will have to appeal to the insurance co. for the chest scan. I have my FUDR scheduled for this Friday morning, so I’m sure this will be discussed. Keep fighting Kris, and give your troll that hammer!
candrewsSpectatorThanks Kris! I have always thought of Pacman eating the tumors too! Chomp, chomp, chomp . . . . . As of this moment, my CT scan scheduled for Friday afternoon might have to be rescheduled. My insurance requires precertification for all scans. I have checked twice, and no one from the oncologist’s office has phoned for the precertification. I am trying my best to keep on top of the situation, but for some reason, no one seems to be picking up the phone to follow-up on it, but me. Needless to say, I am not very happy at the moment. Will you get the results of your scan on Monday?
candrewsSpectatorWay to hang tough Julie! I remember in July when my oncologist gave me my official diagnosis of CC. The next thing he said was, “now, do you want to know how long you are going to live?” I said “NO!” He replied, “good, because I am not God”.
candrewsSpectatorThanks everyone! My husband and I were just talking about this discussion board at dinner tonight, and some of the positive, upbeat posts we have read!
candrewsSpectatorKris: I will be thinking about this Wednesday as you go for your scan! I am going for a CT scan this Friday the 28th! I am a nervous wreck and not looking forward to it as I am worried about the possibility of receiving bad news. Is this normal? This will be my first scan since receiving the liver infusion pump, and I have had 2 treatments of the FUDR.
CindycandrewsSpectatorThanks everyone for all of your kind and encouraging words! My oncologist has mentioned also doing a systemic chemo for clean up just in case anything is floating around. And once these tumors have shrunk, the surgeon wants to do a resection! I have an appointment with my oncologist this Friday. I will be sure an keep you posted!
