Hi Jenn, have you tried Megace or Marinol as an appetite stimulant? You might want to ask your doctor about it. Good to hear from you. Take care and hang in there.

carol58SpectatorHey Jeff, accepting the Lord’s guidance is easier said than done, but I know you will just as Charlie and I have. We pray for strength and peace for all of us and acceptance of God’s will for us.
Much love,
CarolJanuary 21, 2009 at 7:46 pm in reply to: I am on a 5 hour hospital parole so I thought I would catch you up #25661carol58SpectatorDear Kris, so good to hear from you. I hope and pray that all goes well and like you told your doctor, it’s not cancer. I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with this since December. You are not a drama queen. This is a lot to deal with and take in. Anyone would be overwhelmed. Prayers and positive thoughts coming to you from NC.

carol58SpectatorLainy, how I wish we could all meet for hugs. What a blessed event that would be!! But, this is the next best thing. I feel like truly caring, loving people are helping us and praying for Charlie.

carol58SpectatorHey Lainy, hope you and the Miracle Man are doing good. For some reason, the Sarna didn’t work for Charlie. You know this cancer, it’s just all over the place, what works for one doesn’t work for another – so frustrating. The hydrocortisone cream with Aloe seems to work best for him for a short time. I think it’s the cooling Aloe that helps himI know you’ll stay on the right track and take care of your health Lainy. I always keep up with you and Teddy.
Thank you Marion for your suggestions and information. You always take such good care of all of us!
Thank you Karen – one caregiver to another. Prayers for you too!
Joyce, how special you are reaching out to me with all you’re going through. I’m sure your dear Butch is on your mind daily. I wish you the best.
Hey Mary, I’m puzzled too about the drain. His onc says no, it can’t be done, but the Hospice doc and another doc in the onc practice says yes. We’re going to try to get to the bottom of it and get that drain.
Sophie, I hope you’re doing well. We’ve kept up with you too. I’m sure your courage matches his because I think God has picked special people. There’s a lot of reasons and bigger picture that we don’t understand yet, but maybe someday we’ll see.
Hi Patti, hope you’re okay since the loss of your Mom. I think of you often. You give such great information and support to everybody here. Take care of yourself.
Thanks for all the support and prayers. I pray for all of you too.

Jan, I hope your Dad is doing well.

carol58SpectatorHey Kris, I’m sorry you’re having such a rough time. I hope you start feeling better with the IV fluids. Positive thoughts and prayers that it is an ulcer and nothing else.
Carol
carol58SpectatorFantastic news Jean!! I’m so glad for you. So good to hear about your CT. Happy 2009!

carol58SpectatorDear Iris, I am so sorry. My heart just breaks for you. What a love story you two have. I know what you mean. My Charlie is the same with no complaints and being strong. I’m so glad Peter was not in pain. I pray the same for Charlie and all others suffering. Please keep in touch with us. Wishing the best for you as you continue to travel this difficult journey.

carol58SpectatorHey Jan, I’m so glad your Dad’s procedure went well. Keep us posted and good wishes for the MRI. Happy New Year to you and your family!
Do you have any of the cholangiocarcinoma brochures? I was wondering if you did if you could possibly put some in the cancer room where all the books and brochures are at Forsyth? When we went there in 07, nobody had ever heard of this cancer and it was frustrating and exhausting educating them. I’m sure it’s better now. We got Baptist covered. I think Stacie will mail them if you ask her. Take care of yourself.

carol58SpectatorDear Jan, my sincere sympathy to you and your family. Praying for strength and comfort for all of you. So thankful your Dad wasn’t in pain. Take care of yourself.

carol58SpectatorThank you Colleen, Jean, Patty and Joyce. Just a quick update on Charlie. He had a good day Thurs. He even wanted to get out and run a short errand by himself. It made him feel so good. He had a little more energy yesterday. He takes naps throughout the day. He wants to try to keep eating solid food, but it’s a real chore for him. He does good with his Ensure’s though.
Sarah and Ben are still working all this through their minds, coming back again and again for reassurance. The hardest one I think is “Could Daddy go really fast?” and you can see the pain and fear in their eyes. It could be fast or not. With liver failure as with this rare cancer, there’s just no set timeline. I won’t be back at my job until, well, really not sure when and that’s fine.
A Hospice social worker and nurse came this morning for an initial assessment. Signed papers, answered a lot of questions. This relieves both of us that when we need them, they’ll be here. Charlie and I both want him to be home for the duration.
This is a little card that has turned yellow with age that I gave Charlie and he stuck in the frame of a picture of me in my wedding dress on his dresser. We’ve been married 26 years.
In Each Other’s Arms
There’s one place where we both can turn when things don’t go our way. Or when we’re tired from all the cares we face from day to day. A place where we know everything will somehow be okay – Within the safety of each other’s arms.
Much love, Carol
carol58SpectatorThank you Darla, hugs and love coming to you too.
Tonia, I know you miss your grandmother so much. I’m glad you had the special time with her too. It is so precious, isn’t it? Take care.
Carol
carol58SpectatorTonia, please know that you’re in my prayers. Hold on to your precious memories.

carol58SpectatorJan, we’ve got to get together sometime. Olivet is our church. Charlie grew up in that church. It’s beautiful all decorated for C’mas, isn’t it? Be sure to get there early. You know how it fills up quick. Thanks.
