    Shonny,

You have already gotten a lot of good advice and searching the site will give you even more. I am sure you will be hearing from Janet as she is in Australia and is a nurse. There are a few others who post here from Australia. Welcome to our “family”. I know it is not where you want to be, but it is the best place to be for support & help when dealing with this rare type of cancer. The people on this site are all so kind & understanding and willing to help with support, information or just a shoulder to cry on when you need to vent & let your feelings go. Keep coming back. We are all here for you.

Wishing for the best for your sister and everyone who loves her.

With Love & Hugs To You All.

Yes, I have gotten several emails from Sheila and also a whole lot of information, unfortunately, so far it hasn’t helped, but she is a wonderful person and willing to talk to and help anyone when she can. Thanks for giving her the brochures Joyce. We need all the advocates we can get. We do need to keep getting the word out about this rare cancer.

    Thanks for posting this Lisa.

It is true that some have gotten approved, like Joyce, but in most cases there are other circumstances involved, like in Butch’s case. Unfortunately, a lot of cases are still being denied. Mine was denied as Jim served on an aircraft carrier (3 miles out) and I have no proof that he was on land, although he was. It’s called “boot’s on ground” and it is being used to deny a lot of claims for both parasites & agent orange. I am going to appeal and keep trying as I hope others will too. I figure that even if I’m not successful I will keep trying, so that atleast the claims are being made and eventually it will hopefully help others with claims in the future. Right now they keep saying there is not enough evidence, which we all know there is. So many vets are now in the age group that are dying from this disease with no apparent explanation except for the parasites.

Lainy, I have heard mention of Korea occassionally as far as the liver flukes are concerned, along with most of the Asian countries. It might be worth checking into.

If anything comes of my case or I learn any more that I feel is relevant. I will post it.

Marion, I looking forward to hearing what information you learn from the lady you mentioned.

    Hi Everyone,

I hope things are going well for all of you and that you are managing to keep busy.

Janet, I agree, it still all seems so surreal. Time moves oddly now. Sometimes I can not believe how long it has been. It seems like just yesterday that Jim was here and like you Pauline, I often expect him to be here and then realize that is not the case. It really is hard to accept that this is forever and that they will never be here with us again. I don’t know if we can ever get used to being alone. It really doesn’t make any sense and just is not fair. It is hard seeing happy couples our age or older and wondering why that couldn’t be us.

Italy sounds wonderful Pauline, I hope you enjoy your time there and find some comfort in those happy memories. Hopefully some day we can join you there. It would be great to all be able to meet and spend time together. I think we all think about that.

Sue, have fun on your ski trip, but be careful. You don’t need to be breaking anything! :)

Joyce, I too am looking forward to spring. I’ve had enough of all this cold & snow!

Everyone take care and do keep in touch.

    Love & Hugs,

    Oh Kris,

I am so happy that this option is being offered to you if you chose to go with it. It must be so overwhelming and emotional for both of you. As Pam said, take a deep breath, relax and enjoy each other and then you will be ready to make the right decisions.

I too will be thinking of both of you, knowing that you will make the decisions that you feel are best for both of you. I am hoping for the best out come.

I too will be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care and keep us updated, long posts are good. :)

    Dear Jennifer,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and I too know how you are feeling right now. Everything everyone has expressed above is so true. No it is not fair and especially not at such a young age. I know there are no words that will easy your pain right now, but try to be comforted knowing that he is no longer suffering and remember that he will be with you forever in your heart and memories. His spirit will always be with you and yes, one day you will be together again.

Thinking of you with love & prayers.

With Much Love & A Lot Of Hugs,
