SpectatorThanks for posting this Marion.
It is with great sadness that I read this and our dear friend Duke’s obituary. Although I am happy for him that he has been released from the pain and suffering of this terrible disease.
To Aimee, his family and all who loved him you have my deepest sympathy. He made a great impact here and was loved and cared about by all who were touched by his wit and wisdom. He will be watching over you now. Keep him with you forever in your hearts and memories. You are all in my thoughts & prayers at this sad and trying time.
He is now soaring with the angels. Straight on ’til morning.

SpectatorCarol,

SpectatorTammy,
I’m sorry that I can not be of much help in this, but do know what you are going through and want you to know that I am thinking of you & Jon and hoping that what ever decisions you make they will be what is best for the two of you.
I’m hoping others who have been in your situation will be here soon with the guidance and advice that you are looking for.
Take care.

SpectatorDear Mette,
So glad you have joined us but sorry you had a need to. Unfortunately for most that is how it starts. Seem perfectly healthy and then it starts. I agree that you need to go else where for other opinions and hope some of our members can give you some suggests.
Wishing you and your husband the best on this journey that none of us wanted to take.
Let us know how things are going. This is a wonderful, caring group who will do all they can to help and support you.

SpectatorDear Mike,
I am so sorry that you have lost your dear wife Mary Jo to this disease.
There definitely is no right or wrong here. You and Mary Jo made the decisions that were right for you. Take some comfort in knowing that she died peacefully and that she is no longer suffering or in pain. Part of her will always be with you in your heart and fond memories.
I can totally relate to what you are going through as my story is much the same as yours. My husband passed less than 2 months from the first symptoms. That was 7 years ago yesterday. I found this site a few days later and have been here ever since. The help and support of all the wonderful people here is phenomenal.
In time the pain will lessen. It will always be there to some degree, but it does get better and we learn to live with it.
I am glad you have found us and have shared your story with us. I hope you will continue to visit the site as it is a great support system for those who have dealt with this disease. No one but those of us who have can truly understand how it affects everyone involved.
Take care Mike. I wish you comfort and peace.
