a illness like this(i wont say the C word i hate it)or any illness makes you wonder if anyone is really up there and is listening..you start to doubt your faith and say why,why is HE doing this…you pray and pray and it seems like no one is listening…people say that HE works in strange ways and i say to myself why would HE do this to some one who never harmed anyone or anything… and i still wonder…but stories like the humming bird and the dragonfly make me realize that HE is listening and HE has a plan, so i just keep on praying..my heart felt sorrows for your loses….ron

    hi vincent
this is what my wifes doctor suggested while she was on chemo…
    increase fluid intake..including warm fluid
drink 4oz. of prune juice in morning
tablespoon of olive oil or mineral oil daily in the morning
take a stool softener like colace
take up to 100mg.5 times a day
if that dont help than add more fiber plus fruits and veggies
i hope this helps but ask her doctors first because everyone is differant best wishes and good luck…..ron

i dont know how to express this but here goes..today we will have been married 40 years and i love her today more than ever …even after 40 years of marriage we were still very intimate, when this monster came into our lives things changed somewhat…everything seemed to evolve around doctors, hospitals and treatments ,as it should be….when treatments began she was very debilitated not being able to get out of bed 4 days out of seven…i have not left her side since that day one a year ago…so needless to say our intimacy has taken a back seat…but just to still have her with me and to be able to hold her hand, have a conversation, give her a hug and a kiss, well im thankful for that..iknow the intimacy will come…when people say to me what do you want ron, i answer my wife back, because she is here but she is not really here if you kmow what i mean…i wanted to say more but being from the old school i will just let it be for now……ron

hi jill, im a relatively new member to this site also and im glad i found it….the people here are wonderful …its a place where you can share your experiences with people who are fighting the same monster and get a good feed back about procedures and what to expect …i was brought here when my wife was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (I HATE THE WORD) last march…since then she has had 6 months of chemo(gemzar) which has contained itand then a stent….most recently she was a candidate for the sir-spheres procedure this was done on feb.5…as of last night after the blood test results her oncologist thinks that her condition is stable (and i thank god an the doctors for that )..but wont really know until until a pet is done in the coming weeks…but we are very hopeful…what i have learned over the past months is that you must be your advocate…take the bull by the horns and refuse to hear the word no…keep researhing looking for answers ask questions..if one doctor says no find another..never stop trying…i am sorry if im rambling on its been a year full of frustration…what im really trying to say is that i wish you and your family continued good news and as everyone else here i will pray for them ….welcome ron

hi elizabeth welcome and best wishes to you …not sure what happened at sloan but we also had bad experience there…my wife also was the picture of health …strong and viberant, and even today she looks the picture of health….a simple blood test told us differantly…she has had the traditional chemo(gemzar) and that kept it stabile, a stent and most recently the sir-spheres procedure at mt. sinai…if you wish i have all the info you would need about the procedure plus all the names of specialists you would need to see at mt .sinai…you can e-mail me or just post that you are interested and ill give you their names…they have been very caring and helpful in treating this monster…and right now she is doing very well…thank god…in any case best wishes and good luck to you….ron

hi keith and welcome…my wife just had the sir spheres procedure done on feb.5 and the doctors did not suggest any other treatment right now…they said that we have to wait 8-12 weeks to see the outcome of the spheres treatment…she has a full blood work done once a week and at this time thats all….but i have read that some people do have chemo along with this procedure…this isnt much to offer but i hope it helps…ron

very well put JeffG, i agree completely, good or bad we are human beings brought together by a common tread…our loved ones and friends are suffering from a disease that strikes terror in your heart…reaching out to the people on this site has brought my wife and i a sort of comfort…if you can call it that…..reading about their fight and never quit attitude is inspiring and i applaud them and their families…GOD BLESS YOU ALL….i mean no disrespect Magic because i know this disease strikes every one and the way they feel (and they have every right to feel what they want) differently….many times it is not the person talking but the disease itself if you know what i mean….GOD BLESS AND BE WELL….RON

hi all, my wife lucille had the s.i.r.t. procedure today… we just arrived home from mt. sinai hospital and all went well ….right now she feels fine and has a great appetite and the doctors are optimistic, so we are in a wait and see period….so it will be a few weeks or months until we really know anything…this will be hard to endure but this is how this procedure works,so im told…..but i feel very confident that this treatment plus the help of the lord will help her. …again thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and i will keep you informed…..ron
