Fantastic story! Wishing you continued success on your journey…
hamptonsarasotaMemberFor sure he is in a much better pain free place. My most humble condolences…
hamptonsarasotaMemberHey hey hey, I still think I’m ‘young’, but I just turned 42, does that count as young???
hamptonsarasotaMemberI had the same concern as you, but stayed local in Sarasota. The equipment is the equipment, they should be able to map out where the radiation needs to hit and no matter where you are, the ‘zapping’ if you will should be the same. My doctors never had a problem communicating with Sloan either. I would stay home. So far, I’ve driven to each of my appointments and haven’t had an issue. Yes, tired, but not to the point of being unable to function, just naps more often than not! Good luck, hope you made some calls this week and are getting it figure out.
hamptonsarasotaMemberWell, I can sure tell you that the radiation has affected me way more than the chemo… definitely more tired daily. I go in every day at 7:15 but more often than not get home and nap for another couple of hours. Don’t want to, but have to it seems. Slowed down at the gym so as not to push it too much. Went Tuesday for first time in a couple of weeks and did ok because I didn’t feel tired that day. I officially have 2 treatments left, tomorrow and Monday and THAT IS IT!!! Will be discussing follow up treatments/scans Mon/tue with Radiation Oncologist as well as Oncologist to get a ‘plan’ together.
Off to Lauderdale the 16th for a bat mitzvah, then NY for the 4th and a wedding/trip to the city to see Wicked… Will be glad radiation is over, that’s for sure!
hamptonsarasotaMemberWhat a heck of a story! Thanks for sharing too! Continued success, I’m in the same boat as you with ‘adjuvant’ therapy. Chemo done, half way thru radiation as of today.
hamptonsarasotaMemberFantastic! Here’s to another 6 and then some!
hamptonsarasotaMemberI just read thru the whole thread, what a fighter! My most humble condolences on your loss, but yes, definitely in a better place. Feel blessed that you all were able to spend more time than you originally thought and make more memories.
hamptonsarasotaMemberWish you luck in the ‘what the heck is going on with me’ diagnosis phase. My tumor was so small that ERCP was the only way they found the slight compression of my bile duct.CT, ultrasound didn’t show it at all. The blockage caused my billiruben to go up, but even with the tumor it was never as high as yours normally! Good luck again!
hamptonsarasotaMemberCondolences and prayers coming your way…
hamptonsarasotaMember7.5 months post resection, just had a clean scan last Friday. Yeah, what Betsy said! I’m with her too!!
hamptonsarasotaMemberWell, officially done with chemo! Had a CT Friday last week prior to starting the radiation. This is the best part of the lab writeup: “Impression: Findings are not suspicious for tumor recurrence or metastatic disease.” Gotta love that 7.5 months post surgery, that’ for sure!! I guess I’ll start up a new post under Radiation once I start that up. Go tomorrow to radiation onc to get set up for the start of radiation, probably 2nd week of May as there should be 3-4 weeks between chemo and radiation… BTW, my hand still freakin’ hurts from that Gemzar, but at least it was the last time that it happened and not the first. Funny how that worked out, isn’t it?
hamptonsarasotaMemberYes, it wil… that and chemo…
hamptonsarasotaMemberThanks Gavin! Like I said the term Gator Trout just means a bigger than normal Speckled Sea Trout. Tarpon are not at all aggressive towards humans and really don’t have teeth, but very much aggressive towards other bait fish! They are also not good eating, only a sport fish. Mackerel and kingfish are running a bit now. You can get the macks in the bay, but kings are slightly offshore, but within a mile or two. I’m familiar with the halibut, cod, haddock somewhat, but they are very northern fish.
hamptonsarasotaMemberGefilte fish is a mish mash of a bunch of fish, and we ate it at our Seder last week Fri and Sat! The trout was very good, actually used matza breading (still passover, no leavened bread until Sat PM) that I made and egg with a little cheddar on top and salt/pepper. Very good stuff!
