    Hi Amy,
I am so sorry your MOm has been having hard days.. My Aunt has and has had the same symptoms. After the zeloda and gemzar she may get a low grade fever, feel awful and vomit. It is so hard to see a loved one feeling so awful and not able to make it better. Sounds like the doctors are covering all bases which is comforting to know. I hope she starts feeling better soon. MAybe try some 7 up. That seems to help my Aunt a little bit. Take care, Hollie

Thanks to all of you for your kind words for my Aunt. She may possibly find out tomorrow if the insurance company will pick up the cost for the drug to reduce the ascites. I can’t remember the name of it…Maybe avotan?? She was here visitng for the first two weeks of February and we had to go to the ER to get a drain. THey are taking around 6 liters a time and has been drained four or five times. It comes back very quickly and she is very uncomfortable. If this is approved for her it could make all the difference in her quality of life…I have been calling my Aunt Sophie and reading the posts to her and she gets on the site when she can. Aunt Sophie is also critically low in potassium and has been at the hospital to have IV”s to bring it back up where it needs to be. Today two nurses from her doctor’s office told her she is a favorite patient and gave her a picture frame that said Grandma on it. This really touched her and made her day. Thanks again to all of you for the support. I will keep you up to date on the insurance company’s answer. Some good news would be great! You are all very caring and special people to offer such support to all who need it.
Good thoughts coming your way, Hollie

    Pam,

You are an amazing daughter. When you said there is no place like home but your feelings would not compare to your Mom’s, it made me sad/tear up. Is not that the truth! This is an emotional time for all dealing with this cancer and I think you are an awesome daughter doing what needs to be done and driving and being there. You will never regret those miles or sleepless nights. Thoughts are with you and prayers too.. Love, Hollie (Sophie;s niece)

Hi from Truckee……..We both loved all the heartfelt replies from you. Your kind messages are so sincere and appreciated. I am enjoying my Aunt’s company so much and cherish the times we have together. Aunt Sophie is not writing because she is not feeling so good these days. At this time she is taking three weeks off of treatment so she could see the baby and come here. She will continue with chemo mid February. Looks like snow here for the next three days so that will be great. My AUnt so loves the snow and the mountain beauty. We will be in touch soon and think and pray for all our cc friends. Thanks again for all the responses and it is so comforting to know you are all just a post away. Lots of love, Hollie and Sophie

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I felt your pain earlier in your posts due to the distance you are from your Aunt. My Aunt is also suffering from this disease and quite a distance from me too. I know how Aunt’s can be a huge part in a nieces life. I also love to cook and clean. Your Aunt PAt sounds wonderful. Condolences to you and your family. Hollie

    Hello,

You guys are the best..I feel so fortunate to be able to come to this site, have a question answered and also know that we are not alone. I check the site often but do not reply much. I know people’s stories and pray for you all.. My Aunt is such a neat person and has always been the most fun relative for me to be around. She is always very supportive, generous and very funny. Thanks so much for the reply’s and support here. My Aunt really cares for you all. I hope she can get back to her normal self soon. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers and also posted as to how she is doing. All the best to you all…..Thanks again for replying so quickly. What a wonderful place to have to come to. Wish we could all get together for a barbeque and meet in person…. Thanks again for input as to why my Aunt is darned tired..

Thanks so much to everyone who has sent us good thoughts and wishes for my Aunt. I am a 7 hour drive away from her so it is especially hard being so far away when you want to be there and can not due to life in general. It really has been a hard day, as the joy of being considered for the resection is gone. I am going to encourage her to get a second opinion like Joyce said. From what this current doctor has said a liver transplant is not an option and has not given any further information on any possible treatment plan. My Aunt is like a Mother to me and the pain of this has been unbearable at times. The tears keep coming. I pray for healing for my AUnt and all of you battling this cancer and your families. Thank you so much for the loving support and advise. I will stay in touch for my Aunt if she is not up to posting. Hollie
