    Frogspawn,
From my previous posting you know I favor the probability of a genetic connection. However, the doctors (and I have discussed this with several) all seem to think there is not.

    Dear Irene,
Prayers for you in this most difficult of time. So very sorry for your loss and for the decisions facing you. Please lean on all of us here as the needs arise to vent and release frustrations. Wish I could write something to help ease the pains.

    Frogspawn,
Just to comment on the genetic side…I truly believe there is a connection. My husband has cc and after his diagnosis I questioned my Mother-In-Law. Her father, Rob’s grandfather, died of inoperable liver cancer (they all lived in Wales at the time). Apparently the doctors told him he had about four years to live (no clue how they knew that) and the family kind of forgot about it because he was feeling so well and sure enough he died at 62, four years later. My Mom-in-law does not remember any other specifics (she is 86), but I see too much of a connection and therefore have warned my daughter to stay on top of this with periodic screening and also when she has childern to make sure they are scanned as they mature.

    Mark and family,
So terribly sorry for the loss of your Mom. How quickly some of the CC patients pass after being diagnosed. It just seems so unfair. I am glad your Mom was with her loved ones as she passed on. Prayers to you and your family.

    Dear Pauline,

So very sorry that your soul mate has moved on. Please be kind to yourself, he would not want you beating yourself up. Anthony knows that you did your very best for him. You and your daughter need to lean on each other through this terrible grieving time. Perhaps getting involved in CC fighting down the road will be just the ticket to help fill your time. You may not be religious, but I will lift you and your daughter in prayer.

Wow Chrissy…could not have expressed my feelings any better than you just did as I sit here in tears. Plus I feel soooooo guilty because the other weekend I actually picked a fight with my husband and apparently said some pretty terrible things that I do not even remember saying and know I would not have said if my head was in a better place. I think the stress of seeing somebody you love go through this terrible disease and be so helpless to alieviate except in doing research finally made me snap upstairs abit. I too am truly sorry for all effected with and by this illness.

    Violarob,
My husband’s dx is almost exactly like yours. To him chemo was not an option. He has had Cyberknife treatments twice and right now seems to have this terrible disease under control. Of course we hold our breath from scan to scan. He was just C-scanned last week and the doctor was very pleased with the results. The first treatment was for 3 tumors (one quite large) in his liver and the second treatment 5 months later was for another tiny tumor in his liver and a tumor on his spine. The only side effect was fatique for a while and the insurance company did allow treatment. Hope this may help in your searching process.

    Colleen,
Please pass on to Fred how sorry I am that he has so many painful mets. I can only empathize as my husband had so much pain down his leg that was caused by a tumor met to his spine. That was Cyberknifed with resulting no pain to the leg and we go for a follow-up scan next week. I just hold my breathe with these scans. Whenever there is a new pain you just wonder if its a new spot that has cropped up. Wishing a mircle for all of our loved ones so hounded with this dreadful disease.

    Jeff,
Best of luck with the new treatment. Haven’t heard of Zometa until now. I will research also as I like to present new options when we run into a brick wall with this lousey mets stuff. Take care.

    Hi Irene,
Just some more input…my husband has always been and still is a “rail”. He tried most of his youth to put weight on (Boy I would love that problem!). In growing older he has a little tummy, but the rest of his body is lean.
