Interesting thread which I have wondered about for some time.

My Dad was diagnosed just 7 weeks before he died, he had always suffered with really bad heartburn, took statins for high cholesterol but otherwise no symptoms on diagnosis…… He was 72 years old.

There is another thread around considering the correlation between cholesterol medications and cc.

    Andie,

Just to say hope your Dad is now settled in his hospital bed. Wishing you luck with the un-blocking of the stent.

    Hi JDH,

Welcome to the best support forum in the world, or in all our opinions!! You have done the right thing by coming here and seeking advice and support and you will get lots of that.

As Kris said cc is often not diagnosed until qutie advanced, my Dad was diagnosed beginning of May last year. Initially he was thought to be inoperable, then a cavalier surgeon felt he could offer a liver resection….

Sadly this failed and he died 9 days later havng never regained consciousness.

However, there are plenty of people on this board that haven’t gone down the surgery route and have had chemo, radiotherapy, cyberknife etc.

May I ask how old your Mum is and what her general health is? Also whereabouts is your Mum being treated?

Please come back here often, this is truly a goldmine of information and support.

Thinking of you and your Mum,

    Katie

    Hi Karen,

Welcome to the most informative, friendly and supportive board in the world of cc.

I’m sorry to hear the position your Mum is in… My Dad had a failed liver resection last June but sadly never regained consciousness and died 9 days later.

How unfair to have to go through such major surgery only to have a recurrence, but sadly is not uncommon with what I have read of other people’s experiences on here.

Wishing you and your Mum strength as you decide with the doctor’s which path to take….

    Hi Lainy and Teddy,

I’m glad you have come to a decision that suits both of you, and to feel uplifted and relaxed says a lot…..

Enjoy planning your trip and catching up with friends old and new. Hope your meet goes well, I am in Florida on that date, if it was a bit nearer would love to have made the flight!! Maybe next time… :)

    Dearest Donna,

I think what we know about grief is that we go with whatever we feel at any particular given time….. Be gentle on yourself, it is still such early days.

You and your daughters have been through a tremendous amount of emotion recently and you all need to be gentle on yourselves.

There is no set pattern to grief, everyone grieves in their own way at their own pace.

Some minutes or hours are easier than others. Never mind taking things on a daily basis….

Make sure you all try and eat well and get plenty of rest and exercise if you feel up to it. I know that helped me…

    Sending love and positive thoughts,

    Katie

    Dear Dianne,

I am sending you my sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved Dad….

Words alone cannot begin to describe how you must be feeling but please take comfort from being with your Dad as he took his last breathe in this world.

In 2 weeks time it will be a year since I was where you are now, holding my darling Dad’s hand and telling him how much he was loved as he too succumbed to cc.

I will be thinking of you and your family in the days and weeks to come.

    Sending comfort and strength,

    Katie
