Hi Keshia, since you are in Georgia and Dad is in Florida I would highly recommend the Moffitt Cancer Center. I googled them and they actually list CC as a Cancer they treat. We also have had others go there and they liked it and had good results. They are located in Tamps, FL. Best of luck.

Yes, Shellie, sorry, it is Cleveland Clinic. Oh do I ever understand about out of State Insurance. I went to Carlsbad Calif for a week with my BF and I got a viral infection. Ended up at 3 different Urgent Cares and not one would take my Insurance. I just had an Insurance lady come over and she spent 2 1/2 hours going over everything and starting Jan 1 I will be covered everywhere and can go to anyone. At my age I had to do this as Medicare only covers your own State.
IDEA? Have you researched for another ONC where you are? Someone maybe who has treated CC or could recommend you to someone who has treated CC. I can tell you are a fighter and when the time comes that the right help is used, your fright will turn to even more fight. Put on your pink boxing gloves girl, and I will even zap them with some bling!

Dear Shellie, I am so sorry to read about your bumpy roads and the frustration you are experiencing. Unfortunately sometimes these things happen because of the rarity of the CC. I feel strongly that you should seek another opinion but please keep in mind that where ever you go be sure they are VERY experienced with CC or the treatment will be just a bad. Do you have your own Oncologist that you could talk to about going elsewhere? CC is not something that can wait for treatment as it is a little monster that quickly grows up. Not sure how far you are from Ohio but there are a couple of great hospitals there that have lots of experience with CC. Wishing you the very best. Hang in in and hang on, it is a wild ride.

Sister, Julie, PLEASE tell Mayo about the dry heaving and I agree a little outside help may really help in getting through this even if the dry heaving had not started. My goodness you have been through so much and I know you are a good trooper and a real champ! A little extra help can’t hurt. I know the 2 little guys are a big help but perhaps you need another type of boost. Don’t wait, do it now, dry heaving can be awful, been there done it! Wish I had a magic wand to wave it all away!

Gavin, I did the survey as it asked for other Cancers and oddly mine was in there, I say oddly as mine was very rare like CC. BTW starting my 8th year Cancer free. WOW! Where does the time go when it flies so fast!

Dear Tiah, I am so sorry about the walls you are hitting for your Mum. You are such a great advocate and caregiver. When things start to look gray all of a sudden there is a new light and lets hope this Surgeon in Sydney has some new ideas or at least will see Mum. Sending you the best I can over the water! Hang on and hang in you are awesome!

Red, I just wanted to butt in here and say to your hubby, “THANK YOU for your Service!”. If you look at your first post and your last one, look how far you have come in just a few days. Good for you being the Administrator as knowledge is the best tool we have to fight this monster with. So many of us feel like we have graduated from CC 101. Now and then I like to toss out this story about my Teddy and his CC. I hope hubby gets a kick out of this. It is not enough that we have this CC krap over our heads, it had to come with a title few can remember or repeat. When Teddy was in, oh, his 3rd year of CC we had a couple from Milwaukee visit and went to our favorite Italian restaurant. Teddy was a Sicilian through and through and was wearing his CC bracelet. Rocky (yes Rocky) asked him what his bracelet said. T answers, “that is my cancer”. Rocky says, “Yeh, but what does it say?”. Teddy says “Angelo Carcinoma”. I had to turn away not to crack up and I was thinking, leave it to my Sicilian to make his cancer a Sicilian!?” Believe it or not we must find humor as it really helps get us through even the tough times.

Jaime, you Never have to apologize for anything on this Board, that is why we are here. I am still wondering what would happen if you just showed up at the Hospital in Emergency in Toronto. Or can you even do that? A little hint for you…..it is good to hear your wife is so strong which is all the more reason for you to match her strength. My Teddy used to tell me that he wanted me to be strong as he had steeled his mind for what was and what may be and he could not do that if I was not strong too. Man, that is what really pulled me through those 5 years. Never knew before, the strength I really had.

Jaime, good going! It is generally slow here on Sundays but I am sure you will get more responses. Also you are on your way with getting names and next step is to get her in there!!! You never know how strong you are until “strong” is the only choice you have!

Dear Jaime, Welcome to our remarkable family and the best place to be for CC support. I am wishing that we can help change your name from Hopeless to HOPE and MIRACLES! Yes, this is the scariest of scary Cancers and I am so sorry for the way your wife has been treated or should I say NOT treated. You are thinking good when thinking of getting her to Toronto. Please know that once she is with the proper and best Doctors and treatment begins your fright will turn to fight! Not sure how your system works there but can you just take her to the Hospital in Toronto to Emergency and then hopefully they will admit her to the hospital from that point instead of waiting for more Doctors and tests. She should be in a hospital and if getting her in through ER (Emergency) is the way so be it. I believe the hospital I am thinking of is the Princess Margaret.
Will someone verify this hospital for us, please! It is well known for treating CC.
Jaime I would also ask you to copy your post and repost under Introductions as a new post or I am afraid it will get lost in the shuffle. Wishing you the very best and please keep us updated.
