Sophie: Don’t you ever say God is disappointed in you! He is guiding you to help get us on the Oprah show!! And if not her, maybe Montel, but only when Sylvia Browne is on!!! If God was disappointed in you he would have never given you this burden to bare. He has a reason even though we do not know it yet.
Hang in there is tough to hear but…when Teddy had his PET Scan the end of June the doctor was also on vacation and no one would tell us anything. Guess what? There was nothing surprising. So, you never know. Stay strong! As for family not wanting to face this brutality, perhaps you need to let them know it is not helping you. That you need to be able to talk about this not hide from it.
Maybe have them read some of the posts on here and to educate themselves for what you are going through. I can’t let down in front of Teddy or he thinks he failed me but we talk a lot about it! Heck, it consumes our lives. Like you are taking charge of your life right now, you need to also take charge of how you want those around you to perform. Its about you, NOT them. We care and you can tell us all the time!P.S. Kris I also have always heard that Pancreas Cancer is right there with CC.
Everyone hold on the letters, we will advise after I contact Stacie.OMG JEff, I sure hope no one takes an offense to this as we meant in NO way to put out the feeling that no one was doing anything. It is our own frustration with the way CC is treated that got us going. I also remembered last night about the Professor who was on Oprah that just passed away (darn can’t think of his name now) although he did not expound on how we are orphans. I will contact Stacie and see what she thinks as we surely do not want to step on any toes. Everyone on the Board and founding members have done a great job getting us to where we are now. I have been the chief of many things and I know how hard it is to get to where we are. I will contact Stacie. As always you are right with us and we thank you for that!
Well, I think since we are all with this site it is OK if we make a collection and send them all together. I feel it would be a bigger impact than if they received them piece meal and perhaps some would even get lost. Not sure if we have to clear this with the Board but perhaps a Board Member can tell us. So. my suggestion is that anyone who wants to write a letter should. Perhaps you and I can volunteer to be “co-producers” of this. I could represent the caretakers and you could represent the patients, since that is our real life role. We could set a deadline to receive the letters via e mail. The letters have to be thought out really well so would like to give people a little time on this. Can you imagine sending like 50 letters in a bunch to her? Feel free to email me on this. Who knows this could be the start of something BIG! Mmmm reminds me of a song.
Hi Sophia. Just the other day I posted a note on this site that we should go on Oprah! I think your letter is outstanding but what is better than 1 letter? More letters all sent in together! I also stated in that post that we should get bracelets, ribbons etc. We need to start getting more pro-active! If Oprah does not contact us we can try someone else. But I really think more letters and we can send them to one person who would send them all to Oprah.
Carrieann: So sorry for all you and your mother are going through. As far as starting the surgery and stopping, my husband had a Whipple (cancer in the bile duct valve) and the doctor told us a few times that he was going in but would abort the surgery if the cancer had spread. He stated that they do not know until they are actually “inside” if it has spread or not. Fortunately for us it was contained. So, it does not surprise me what the doctors told you. We just keep expecting the worst and hoping for the best. You and your family are in our prayers!
OMG! IF it was not so sad it would be hysterical. You are the most couragous, wonderful people in the world. I will do the marathon with you if I can walk!!!!!!!!!! You could definitely give Kathy Griffin a run for the money!!!
And we have each other! So, I say lets get busy and make ribbons, pins, greeting cards to sell and lets bring attention to ourselves. Lets go on Oprah and lets start screaming until we are heard!!! Oh, you forgot one biggie, if it was another form of cancer we would also have insurance companies on our side. I think part of our frustration is that we need to come out of our closet! But keep your chin up, you never know…..we can put on our boxing gloves and enter the ring, what do you all say?????
Sophie, you are just too much!!! Next thing you know we will turn on a TV Infomercial and see you selling blenders!! You sound like a wonderful person and I am so honored to meet you, not this way, but glad never the less. Keep on smiling!!
We are glad you found us but sorry you had to. What you are going through is absolutely normal. Soon the scared part will leave and you will begin to fight, fight, fight for your mum. You will find the strength within you to become strong for her and there is nothing wrong in getting in your car for a short ride and having a few screams. As the caretaker you must stay strong and positive. I found out with my husband that if I let down in front of him he felt he failed me.
That was the worst for him. Let others help you, they really want to. You might want to go back and read some of the posts on this sight along with reading all you can about this disease. There are a ton of brave warriors here and the more you get to know them whether they are patients or caretakers, is to admire them to the fullest. I am totally in awe of these good people. Good luck and keep us posted.Mmmm Teddy has Cigna with his Medicare but we are always using just the Cigna. So, what good is Medicare? One has to have it for what? Teddy is a Korean Vet (Pork Chop Hill) and he has never gone to see if he is entitled to anything as he feels he survived where so many didn’t and he is grateful for that. Just got a bill for the PET Scan and it was over 6,000.00 and we only had to pay 150.00 and are thankful for that. I think 150.00 is the new magical number as we seem to be paying that for ER and what ever. I always say things could be worse. By the way if you add an A and rearrange the letters of

We live in an active adult community in Phoenix and let me tell you that the short tennis skirts some of these octegenarians wear are more daring than the 2 piece bathing suits! As for the Oxycodone, happy, happy. I took 1/2 of one the other night for some back pain and for the whole next day I was in la la land. We love hearing from you and wishing you the very best, Grandma!!!!
