Dear Ailsa & Nancy – Welcome!! It’s nice to meet you, too, Susan. I’m so glad you’ve all joined this wonderful family although I’m so sad that any of us need to be here.
My sister is on Gem/Cis & is tolerating it well. Like Susan, she gets very fatigued (& the sweats drive her nuts, sometimes) but she is coping very well & I hope you do, too, Nancy.
My thoughts are with you all. Please keep coming back & talking to us – you’ll get so much wonderful support & information here.

Dear Debby – I’m so, so sorry to hear of your loss & your pain. Your anger, sadness & confusion sound very, very normal & very understandable, too. Be as kind to yourself as you can; your friends will understand & if they don’t … are they really the friends you need at this time?

Dear Merilee – I’m popping on a bit late but I want to join the others in welcoming you to this wonderful family. My sister had trouble getting the stents properly placed to start with but has had no problems with them since they managed to get them in. Like some of the others, she had an external drain & bag for a few months.
Like you, I found the diagnosis a total – & very, very painful – shock; my sister went in for suspected penicillin allergy & came out with a diagnosis of something none of us had ever heard of. As you visit this site more & talk to the wonderful people here more, the shock fades & the fight kicks back in.
My thoughts are with you & your family. Please let us know how you are all getting on.

Thank you, too, Kathy for adding more to the knowledge & information we’re all striving for. I know so little of any of this (though I feel the past 6 months have been a literal “crash course” for me) & the vast wealth of experience we’re all pooling here is so, so wonderful.

The disappointment is bound to hit hard but it’s clear that no one’s going to give up on Kris & it’s great to hear that the doctors are saying the same.

Good luck with your mum’s tests, Dawna. And thank you, Margaret, for the recording idea. I’m the note-taker at my sister’s meetings but there’s a lot hanging on a word (& can I be sure I wrote what the doc said, or what I thought the doc said …?) and intonation is so important, too. I’ll try recording next time.
