I believe what ties us together encompasses everything including, the success of treatments and the hope for advancement in research to the benefit of those who’s life has been touched by CC.
Hugs to everyonemarionsModeratorBarbara…..On this board we have seen mets to lung many times in fact. our JeffG speaks about it in several of his posts.
November 25, 2008 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Radiofrequency Ablation is in the cards for Gale918 #24026marionsModeratorGale…we had the same insurance company as you and not nearly did we have as much success as you have. Have a great Thanksgiving.
marionsModeratorKristin….so happy to know that your Dad is feeling better then he has in a long time. Given your Dad’s particular circumstances the decision you have made seems so very appropriate. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
marionsModeratorWe are counting on things to be fine for Teddy following his treatments in December. How wonderful of him wanting to share his experience and thereby giving hope to others. You might want to contact the local chapter of the National Cancer Institute. This may lead you to suppport groups being held in the area or, some other functions where someone like Teddy with his great attitude and success would be a welcome addition. Other then that I would love to see a billboard with his smiling face and yours, of course.
Others may also have some suggestions which would be so very welcome.marionsModeratorSuzanne…wanted to tell you that under Medical Updates (Home page) you will find an abstract on chemoembolozation you might find worth reading.
Hugs
MarionmarionsModeratorLainy….love to have you and your shadow attend the conference with me. I will do anything I can to make this happen and will keep you informed as time goes on. Thanks for your generous offer of representing this cancer for the foundation. I am really looking forward to this.
marionsModeratorA group hug is coming your way. We are glad for you to have joined for the very same reasons none of us want to be here….but, here we are and we are a great bunch to be with.
marionsModeratorMDS…Welcome to the site and so sorry for the circumstances leading you here. Have you discussed with the physician the possibility of a clogged stent? I am not a physician but I have been on this board for quite some time and generally, when stents are replaced the symptoms diminish or disappear. Also, what is his bilirubin level? Also, when you are speaking of a fever and shivers
marionsModeratorLisa….and that is good reasoning based on information you have gatherered. Someday there will be an established protocol for all afflicted with this cancer.
marionsModeratorI would prefer to go with the statement of your oncologist: 1 in 5 favorable response to chemo.
In re: to the March conference. Thanks for offering and yes, I am looking forward to your joining me. More details will follow within the next few weeks. Not sure about us being able to occupy a booth but, sure am crossing my fingers to be given another one of these great opportunities of allowing us to have more visibility at the conference. I was also thinking of having a get-together with whoever would like to meet while I am out there. In fact, I would like to meet some of our members wherever I am attending these conferences. I will post my attendance, city and time with the hope of connecting with someone from the board after conference hours. I can’t wait.November 24, 2008 at 5:45 pm in reply to: Radiofrequency Ablation is in the cards for Gale918 #24037marionsModeratorGreat to hear about your success with the insurance company. If you don’t mind asking: Which one is it? Still crossing my fingers for “scar tissue” but am looking forward to your report after Wednesday.
marionsModeratorLisa….you are making a good point and that is to inform yourself and then based on the knowledge gained, make the decisions in re: to the treatment protocols. I remember a conversation with a highly respected oncologist who mentioned: “One out of six people will respond favorably to chemotherapy. We just don’t know who that person is”. Lainy brings up a good point by mentioning that even the experts seem to be in disagreement when it comes to the subject of chemotherapy for the treatment of bile duct cancer. On this board we have seen both favorable, and negative results.
marionsModeratorCharlene……please, accept my deepest sympathy. Although, we never seem to be prepared for the passing of our loved ones we do take comfort in knowing that they are in a safe place without suffering and pain, and that they have joined those who have gone before them. You can count on us – we are here for you.
One day at a time.
Sending all my love
MarionmarionsModeratorYou are welcome. And, the news gets better, yet. Peter has been eating solids – scrambled eggs and muffins. He feels great for being able to digest some real food, now.
