Thanks for sharing Marion. I just purchased the book on iBooks and can’t wait to start reading it. I looked at the clip from the upcoming documentary and it looks fascinating – can’t wait until the spring of 2015!

    Daisy,

I am currently being treated at Sloan. My medical oncologist is Dr. Maeve Lowery and I love her. She’s very open and honest in all our conversations and she gives you all the time you need to talk and ask questions.

Please accept my condolences on the death of your mother. It is an awful disease and I am sorry that you lost your mother to it. I hope, in time, you can remember all the loving memories of your mother and they overshadow the sorrow you are going through now.

    Peace,

My ex-husband would appreciate that. He loved war movies. I’m not a big fan of the but there are some good ones. Not familiar with the one you mentioned but it’s from the year I was born so it’s got to be good!!! ;-)

    Thanks Lisa and Karen.

Lisa, things have been so hectic in my family this week and I have been running ragged trying to help out. I’m sorry I missed your call but will try to get you tomorrow – Sunday. We have a lot to catch up on!!!

I’m hoping you’re doing better with the hives?

I hope we can connect tomorrow. I want to ask you if you were serious about driving to meet us on our next get together? That would make my day!!! If not, I’ll have to find a way to get to Ohio and hunt you down!!! ;-)

    Love & Peace,
    Mary

    Hi Michele,

Sorry to hear your husband is experiencing such intense pain. One concern I have is that he’s taking Tylenol. Because of my liver involvement with my disease, and Tylenol is processed through the liver, I was told I could not take Tylenol. I don’t know your husband’s case so it may not be an issue for him – just wanted to put that out there. In any case, his pain seems to intense to be controlled with Tylenol anyway. He really needs to talk, or see, the doctor before his visit on the 13th. They may prescribe a pain med for him that will help more than Tylenol. I know how difficult us patients can be. We don’t mean to make it so hard for our caregivers. We just get so tired of doctors and hospitals visits and the feeling of losing control of our lives. Kris had a good idea about giving him a choice of ER or calling ONC. Maybe you can try that and it will work. I hope so. I hate the thought of him being in pain unnecessarily.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    Kris,

So true – laughter is the best medicine! In my family that is our release when things get too stressful. It does really help. I know how Mark feels about hiding the fact he has a temp. When I was going through that really rough patch I mentioned in above post, they had me taking my temp a few times a day when I was home. If I did have a temp I wouldn’t call the doctor, I would try to wait it out and see if it went down. Sometimes I wouldn’t even bother taking it. My doctor started saying that I was doing selective temp taking. We laughed about it. I was just so tired of going back and forth to the hospital and being stuck in there. I’m sure Mark feels the same. He doesn’t mean to increase your stress level. We do realize how hard this all is for the caregivers. I don’t know what we would do without you guys. It does hurt to seeing you traveling this path with us. I thank my daughter every day for being with me on this journey.

Lainy, I love that movie!!! I was just talking about that with family members this week and saying I have to watch that movie again – I need a good laugh!!! DeNiro and Ben Stiller are comedic geniuses!!!

Stay well guys and laugh often,
    Mary

The article says the trial is underway but I didn’t see any mention about how to see if you’re eligible for this Phase I trial or if it’s closed to participants. I see it’s concluding in 2015. I would be very interested to see what the trial entails and if I’m eligible.

    Thanks Percy.
