    Hi Tiah-

Thanks for checking in. Interesting and sorry your Mom had nausea. My Mom was just extremely tired. Wishing the best that scan results will make what she is going through worthwhile.

    Dear Sandie,

Without being in your place, I don’t have the ability to understand, but can say that my heart goes out to you and I am thankful that you are surrounded by love. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and from your posts on this board, I have no doubt that if your battle ends tomorrow or 50 years from now, you will be missed and remembered by all those whose lives you touched. I hope we hear that you still have some more battles to win for the good side.

Wishing you comfort, peace and lots of love,
    Catherine

    Bostonguy,

Welcome to our group. We are so fortunate that behind this discussion board we have an organization that is supported by not only people and families touched by CC who have dedicated their lives to this cause, but doctors and Cancer centers specializing in this rare disease that they brought on board. Unlike those wonderful folks, I’m just the daughter of an ICC patient. I’ve been told my mother’s relatively long-term success with Y-90 treatments makes her a rare case, but for us, not only has the results of two Y-90 treatments (second one given in conjunction with xeloda), but now having Mom be able to have treatment-free normal quality of life is something which was never a possibility based on her prognosis in 2013. I’m not sure if the dose or technique used at UMD helped with getting us the results, but it may be another option to look into.

    best wishes,
    catherine

    Hi,

My mother is much older, but 6 cycles was plenty for her. After the chemo she had two rounds of Y-90 treatments and has been treatment-free since Nov. 2014. The chemo was still working well for her, but we pushed to try other treatments while she still was feeling strong enough and before it started progressing. Have they discussed another attempt at surgery? And, also wondering if you have gotten a second opinion. I’m very happy the chemo continues to work (maybe it’s a lower dose) but I would always ask for what plan B is.

    Best wishes,
    Catherine

    Hi,
I thought Lainy had another day of vacation so just sent you an email. Dad finished his brain radiation and chemo 4 weeks ago and his question to the doctor was when will he be allowed to drive. It obviously is very important to them and a part of who they are. I probably would have just told Dad that his driving days were over, but his ONC handled it so beautifully and said it would be at least 8 weeks until he got his strength back enough to start getting back into normal routines (never gave a yes or no to driving). Dad was a police officer in New York City, so he can be challenging at time too.

    love and hugs-

    Catherine

    Dear Daughter,

I am very sorry to hear of your Dad’s condition. It is so hard to watch people we love suffer. I know Lainy often sends members information on signs to watch for that indicate the end is near. Since she is on vacation, please let me know if you would like me to send them to you in a private message or email. I had to search a bit, but finally found them in my email.

And, I agree with Shellina that you should try to get all the help you need to make him comfortable and pain free.

    Take care,
    Catherine

    Dear Tony,

I am very sorry to read this post and hear how this disease is affecting Karen. I can understand apprehension on going to Marie Curie, but one thing I’ve learned from being on this board is that hospice care (I assume Marie Curie is similar) can be brought in earlier and the focus is to make the patient comfortable.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers-

    Dear Julie,

Welcome. I’m sorry anyone has to be diagnosed with CC, but doubly lousy when you are so young. I’m glad you realize that there are some happy ending stories even with this disease and I’m hoping that you’ll be one of them!

    Take care,
    Catherine
