Almost humorous that I’ve been following this for Mom and chance that Dad could be enrolled.

    Thanks Marion,

Jim, even without this lousy disease, being able to travel (especially to a warm place) and spend time with family is what life’s about. We are booked with parents to ft myers in May . I was so hoping your trip would be perfect. I’m so very happy to hear you came back recharged. And, your offer of assistance to others shows that Mary has a husband who will give her all the support she needs.

This board introduces us to some amazing people who in difficult times still shine. Thank you.

Thoughts and prayers are with you,
    Catherine

    Patty-

I am trying to decipher Mom’s results from Guardant360 (blood) testing and this may be way off base, but doing a quick copy/paste in case there is some applicability (It was listed next to TP53)

    Dear Evan,

I am very sorry for your family’s loss. Although unfortunately 10 years is encouraging to hear with this horrible disease, still much too soon, especially for one so young. I look forward to the day when 10 years is the norm- or even the low end of survival.

My deepest sympathies are with you and your family,
    Catherine

    Sharon,

    We are here to listen.

Mom was diagnosed with CC on their 54th anniversary. She told us later that they spent the evening having a quiet dinner together, putting music on and dancing. We are so blessed that she so far has beaten the odds (she was given a year) and they celebrated 56 years in October. However, yesterday we got confirmation that Dad has cancer which has spread to his brain. Mom is very sad and mad as well. She said the only way she will be able to deal is by looking at how we face today; she does not have the strength to look at the future and what they may face. We spent the afternoon in the hospital with them playing cards while waiting for Dad to go for a bone scan.

Scared for tomorrow, but trying to appreciate today.

    Take care,
    Catherine

    Maj,

Welcome to our group. I’m sorry your mother’s diagnosis made you find us, but I’m glad you did.

I know things are different than in the US, but I’m hopeful that some other members may be able to chime in and help.

Is your mother having treatments? If you haven’t done so yet, there maybe some info at the link below which could be useful.

    Hi Jack,

Glad to hear that things are going so well and you are enjoying quality time with the family. Some of our memorable family bonding times were while Mom was getting chemo treatments. Not sure if I would go as far to say life is better after diagnosis, but would say we can find some positives. If you can say “improved”- more power to you :) Thanks for checking in.

    Happy New Year!

    Dear Janet,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing the obit so we could get to know a bit more of the full life Jim lived. I was especially touched by your saying that half of tour heart is now in heaven.

    Marion,

Quick question- do they exclude patients with mets to brain? Mom is still our small miracle, but Dad is in hospital and waiting for confirmation that the brain lesions found in an MRI yesterday are a secondary cancer (possibly lung). The first MRI yesterday said bleeding, but repeated with contrast and pretty sure we’re looking at 3 cancerous lesions on the brain. We are still numb from this news.

    Thanks,
    Catherine

    Marion,

We are waiting results from Guardant60;blood test for genetic mutations. Although I’m not sure how valuable it will be at this time since all tumor appears dead, I still will share detail of report when received.

    Sandie,

Thanks for checking in. I’m happy to hear the chemo side effects have been tolerable so far. I hope in Jan we hear that the chemo did wonders.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

    Hi Sean,

If you look two threads down under this same topic ( Radiation treatments), you will see my post with SIRT in the topic; Selective Internal Radiation Therapy – the Y-90 spheres are what they use.

In short- Mom has had 2 y-90 treatments and at this point, we are still at a point where the tumor appears dead.

If after reading it, you have any further questions, please let me know. For Mom, it has allowed her to be treatment free and at this point, still no evidence of disease.

    Best wishes,
    Catherine

    Friedrich,

Glad you found us and looking forward to hearing how the consults go. I hope the warm weather in Baltimore sticks around into Jan for you (and me).
