The Second Annual Quack Out Cholangio 5K Run/Walk to Crush Bile Duct Cancer

The Second Annual Quack Out Cholangio 5K Run/Walk to Crush Bile Duct Cancer, raising funding for cholangiocarcinoma research, was held Saturday, May 15, 2021. With a sold-out in-person event in Newark, Delaware, and virtual runners and walkers from across the country, the event welcomed nearly 500 participants of all ages.  The inaugural 5K started and organized by Janice and Dean Meyer was transitioned to a virtual event in 2020 after the COVID pandemic prohibited in-person gatherings.

Janice lost her mother, Margaret Brown, to cholangiocarcinoma and is herself a survivor. She and Dean, a member of the Board of Directors of Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, have been prolific in raising awareness of CCA and are generous supporters of the Foundation. They have funded a research fellowship grant in memory of her mother and supported numerous other cholangiocarcinoma research.

The start and finish of the race were held at Midnight Oil Brewing Company and featured live music and a catered lunch.

The perfect race day weather in Delaware welcomed Cholangiocarcinoma Warriors, friends, and family from across the US including Delaware, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and other states.
