Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation raises more than $76,000 in 2nd Annual Moving for the Cure

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) and TeamCCF sponsored its second athletic event, Moving for the Cure. The virtual fundraiser invited participants from around the world, of any age, and of any physical ability to raise money through an athletic event of their choosing. They could choose to run, bike, walk, play a game of volleyball, host a dance party, rollerblade or whatever their hearts desired.

Moving for the Cure took place from July 18th to July 24th. Each participant set-up a fundraising page and selected an activity to do on their own or with family and friends. In total, 97 total fundraisers were created and combined raised $76,962 from peer-to-peer fundraising from 867 unique donors. Also, $20,000 was also raised in sponsorships. All proceeds raised are earmarked to fund research for cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer that impacts more than 10,000 Americans each year.

More than 550 participants from 30 states and 12 countries participated:

States: Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Countries: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Germany, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, USA and Vietnam

Moving for the Cure once again exceeded our expectations. We have a wonderful community of people within CCF and, as always, they showed up to support each other and raised vitally needed funds in creative and imaginative ways” said Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation Laura Hnat.

CCF gives special thanks to its sponsors: Incyte, Taiho Oncology, WPS Health Solutions, Kathy Plouff Memorial Nursing Scholarship and Giles and Associates Family Psychology for helping to make the event possible.
