Mrs. Cindy Irene Fike Wright died after a brief, courageous journey with liver bile duct cancer. She passed away on October 20, 2015 at her home in Cornelius, North Carolina at the age of 56 with her family by her side. Some of her last words while giving her husband a hug were “Good things will happen”.

Cindy is survived by her husband Ron; daughter Jessica and granddaughter Sophia, son Isaiah and his wife Kathryn of Charlotte,NC; daughter Lauren and grandson Ashton of Santa Fe, NM; brother Chris and his wife Tonya, brother Mark and his wife Cathy of Tiro, OH; brother Mitchell and his wife Sharon of Attica, OH; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Owen Fike, and her brother Michael Fike of New Washington, OH.

Cindy was born on February 14, 1959 in Bucyrus, OH to Owen and Ruth Fike. She graduated from the University of Toledo in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which she used to work in hospitals, adolescent psychiatric hospitals, and home health care. Cindy later obtained a Massage Therapy certificate and license in 1997 and had a small massage therapy business, The Wright Touch.

She married Ron Wright in 1984 and the devoted couple renewed their wedding vows on July 1, 2015. The couple had Jessica in 1985, and twins, Lauren and Isaiah, in1986. Granddaughter Sophia was born in 2004 and grandson Ashton was born in2014. Cindy is remembered by her husband, children, and grandchildren as a loving, caring, and compassionate wife, mother, and grandmother who supported and encouraged all her family and friends in their goals.

Cindy was active in many volunteer efforts at churches, schools, and within the community; giving of her time and passion to help others. Cindy was very good at listening, helping others, and giving love to all of the many friends she had and she had so many as most people she met became a friend. Cindy used these wonderful skills as a Stephen Minister and Stephen Minister leader. She also enjoyed cars, dancing, nature, sports, and book clubs. Some of her adventures included attending an Outward Bound School for 21 days, stand up paddle boarding on Lake Norman, hiking countless trails,doing a zip line in Panama, enjoying good beers, time at the Moms’ beach week(end), and diving into waterfalls.

In celebration of Cindy’s life and to honor her memory, we are initiating a fund-raising campaign for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation. Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare and under-researched cancer, that is growing in incidence worldwide.
