darlaSpectatorTK,
I too want to welcome you and encourage you to ask whatever you want. There is strength in knowledge and there is a lot of it here.
I too am grateful for the Clements family. This site is a wonderful way to honor Mark’s memory. I also feel that being here and trying to help & support others is a way for those of us who have lost a loved one to CC to honor their memory.
So, keep coming back. As much as this is not where you would choose to be, you will be glad you have found us.
Take care & keep in touch.

darlaSpectatorHi Stan,
The issues involving a needle biopsy were recently discussed on this thread:
http://www.cholangiocarcinoma.org/punbb/viewtopic.php?pid=25755#p25755
I think it started around the 10th posting. Hope this is somewhat of a help to you.
From what you have said, I would be asking a whole lot of questions!
Good luck to you. I will be hoping fo the best for you.

darlaSpectatorMarion,
Have a safe and successful trip. Can’t wait to hear all about it and hopefully see some pictures.

darlaSpectatorHi Pauline,
Sorry to hear you were ill and glad you are now feeling a bit better. Interesting that I haven’t really been ill since Jim passed away. Not sure why that would be. I do seem to be exhausted most of the time and have the allergy things going on, but nothing more serious. I am doing OK, not great, but OK. As you said, now that the holidays are over there is a sense of relief. I do have to face another anniversary the end of the month. My second without Jim. Don’t know if those days ever will get easier. I still have the shop open 5 days a week from 10-4, but do close from time to time. It does help to keep myself focused and busy. Hope your weather has improved. It hasn’t been too bad here.
So, Hi to everyone and I hope you are all doing well. Everyone take care & keep in touch.
Love & Hugs,
DarladarlaSpectatorI am so sorry to hear of your loss. Yes, it does sometimes go quickly, however, atleast she did not have to suffer for too very long. You were lucky to have her with you at home those final days and I am sure that is comforting to you and your family.
Atleast she is no longer suffering and is now in a better place. I know that right now there are no words that will make it better, but try to remember that she will be with you forever in your heart and memories.
My heart goes out to you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

darlaSpectatorHi Janet,
Good to hear that you are doing better. It sure is a rough up & down ride, isn’t it? And now Roland is dealing with shingles! It is always something. Lucky you were able to catch it quickly and get him started on treatment. I’m glad your sister has been down for a visit. I am sure it was good for all of you. How is she doing?
Take care Janet.
love & Hugs,

darlaSpectatorI found this in one of Ashley’s posts:
The only setback we had so far is that when they did the biopsy the beginning of September (the one that diagnosed the bile duct cancer), the doctors at MUSC used a needle and went from outside my skin into the liver to get the samples. Normally that type of biopsy would automatically disqualify me for the liver transplant because when they pulled the needle out cancer cells could have seeded in my abdomen and skin. Dr. Harnois had already been aware of this and had spoken to several members of the review board and they said they would consider my case. With this information she felt that there was not a problem with going forward with the evaluation for now. They will probably do some extra radiation in that area to be extra safe before the transplant. The problem is that with a liver transplant they have to put me on medicine during and after the transplant to lower my immune system so low that the body won
darlaSpectatorI do not know this from our experiences, but have heard or read something to that affect. My husband had a needle biopsy done, however, in his case the cancer was already so advanced that he was not a candidate for a transplant. You may want to try the search function on the site and I am also sure you will also be hearing from others who may have a better answer for you. Hoping for the best for all of you.
