    Dear Joe,

I am glad that you now have hospice involved. It will be of great help and support to you. I truly know how you are feeling. My husband died at age 62 and we only dealt with this for 2 months, so I know all the things you are feeling. Spending quality time with her as much as you can is all you can really do for her at this point. I found this board shortly after Jim died and like you am so grateful for all the help and support I have gotten from everyone here. No one can understand what it is like to deal with this awful disease other than those who have walk the same road. I stay because I hope I am giving back some of what I have gotten. I too pray that the day will come when this disease will be conquered. I will keep you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers.

    Love & Hugs,
    Darla

    Julie,

I like that quote and it is so true. What is going to be will be no matter how anxious and stressed we do or don’t get. Unfortunately, it is easier said than done not to worry. This may not work for you, but I read a lot and sometimes when I am stressed I try to bury myself in a good book. Some days it works, some days not so much. Fingers crossed that all goes well on Friday. At least then you will know what you are or aren’t dealing with and can work out a plan of attack if necessary. Take care dear Julie. Thinking of you.

    Hugs,
    Darla

PS: Sun is shining brightly here this morning and I hope it is shining on you too. :)

    Julie,

I agree with the others. Vent all you want & need to. What better place to do it than here where we all understand and truly care. Hoping all goes well and look forward to a positive up date. As for the weather, a GRRRR from me too. This was the wettest April we have had in a long time and tonight there is a frost advisory. This is May and I’m not liking this at all! I want sunny skies and warm weather.

    Gail,

Sorry to hear of this turn of events. Yes, it is a roller coaster ride. The ride of your life and one none of us want to be on. Thinking of you and hoping that a new plan can be put in place to get him back on the uphill slope. Take care and update us as you can.

    Dear Tiah,

I am so sorry to learn that your mum has passed away. It does sound like she passed peacefully and with your dad at her side. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that. For her the suffering is over. In time your pain will slowly lessen. We never forget, but it does get better with time and you will begin to heal and be able to take comfort in all the fond memories you have of your dear mum. Thinking of you and your dad at this sad & trying time.

    Hugs,

Amazing. I agree with Marion. We need to find a permanent place to put this on the site.

    Tiah,

So sorry to hear this. On the positive side, I’m glad that she is comfortable, not in a lot of pain and is able to eat without getting nauseous. Hope things go well with the gastroenterologist tomorrow. My thoughts will be with you and your mum.

    Dear Sandra,

I am so sorry for your loss of your mother. You have my deepest sympathy.

I agree with what Mary has said. Everyone reacts differently to these situations. Please try not to take it personally. I found that many of the people I thought would be there for me were not and that there were others who did help & support me that were a welcome surprise and greatly appreciated.

It is what it is and we just have to try not to figure out why and deal with things as best we can. You have every right to your feelings but don’t let them affect you negatively. I know, that is easier said than done.

Just take things one day at a time. Again, I am sorry for your loss. Try to take comfort in all the good memories you have of your mom and that she is no longer suffering from this awful disease. Take care.

    Hugs,
    Darla

    Dear Joe,

I am so sorry to hear all of this. I agree with Marion. It is normal that you feel as you do, but know that you are a good son and have done the best that you could do for mom under these circumstances. Enjoy the day with your mom & family today. These are memories you will cherish. Thinking of you on this special day.

    Joe,

Is it possible to have another doctor look at her case? A new set of eyes on things and another opinion couldn’t hurt at this point. I think pain management should be at the top of the list.

Take care and update us again as you can.

    Hugs,
    Darla
