The results from the CT were great! There is a new very small (2mm or so) mass on his lung but aside from that, there is no change! YAY!! His bili is a bit up, so they are booking another drain change in the next little while, which is totally fine… changing them regularly has helped keep him from having any problems until now, so may as well continue!
They are going to see him again in a month and plan another CT for 12 weeks from now, and then go from there.
Great news this morning, and a birthday celebration tonight with the family… today is a GOOD day. :)

Beautiful poem Andrea. I don’t yet understand what you are feeling or going through, but want you to know that I am thinking of you, and hope the days (and nights) get easier for you. I’m sure you will soon start having visions and dreams of your Dad in healthier times, and hope these memories will help you through…

    Thinking of you.

I’m sorry for your incredible loss Andrea. As others have said, I am so glad that he went peacefully and painlessly. He is watching over you, and so proud of you and your Mom… remember he will be by your side always. I will be thinking of you all in the days to come, and pray you can find comfort in the fact that he is no longer suffering from this awful disease…

    Lots of love,

    Jen

    Andrea,
As others have said, you are doing EVERYTHING right. It’s awful that the one nurse was so nasty (and stupid, really… considering what she does for a living, you would think she would understand the concept of sensitivity, which she clearly DOES NOT). I’m so glad the other nurses are being so helpful, and that your Dad is comfortable with them being around. It sounds like they are ready for whatever may come, which is fantastic.
I know the next few days are going to be very hard, but it sounds like you are doing what needs to be done to ensure your Dad is at peace, and I know he must be so incredibly proud of you and your Mom for the way you are handling everything right now. I hope his new found calmness continues with you and your Mom being the ones by his side, and that he remains pain free.
I am thinking of you and your family constantly, Andrea, and pray for peace and comfort for you all.

I’m so sorry Andrea… I wish there was someway I could help you through this, something I could say to make it easier. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to see him this way, but you are right… this is NOT your Dad. I would have to agree with Pam – make the call, even if it’s just for some advice.

Know that there are people across the world praying for you and keeping you close in their hearts… I pray for peace for you all.

I have tears in my eyes reading your post Andrea. I know it’s a difficult time, but I will continue to pray that he passes in his sleep, peaceful and pain-free. I am so glad for the little moments you are able to have with your him – he IS a hero – he sounds like such an amazing man, and certainly has an amazing family surrounding him. Thinking of you and your entire family Andrea…

    All my love.

I’m glad they are starting the oramorph Andrea. Honestly, the worst thing I have ever seen in my life is the pain Dad was in when he was admitted to the hospital early December, when we thought it was time to say goodbye. The pain got on top of him, and it took several days for them to get it back under control… he said at the time that he would rather die then feel what he was feeling, and I don’t wish that on anyone. It was the most heartbreaking time of our lives. Hopefully starting it now means that your Dad will never have to face any pain… one small victory against this awful disease.

All my love, thoughts, prayers and energy are with you – stay strong Andrea, and know that we are all here for you…

Oh Andrea – I am so sorry for what you are now facing and going through. I hope he continues to be completely pain free and comfortable. It sounds like he has loved ones waiting to meet him and help make his journey a peaceful one, and I pray that it will also be peaceful for your and your Mom. They are both lucky to have you by their side. All my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family tonight Andrea….

    All my love.

I’m so sorry for all you are facing right now Andrea. Your parents are incredibly lucky to have you there, standing by their side through this. I can’t imagine how sad it would make me to hear Dad talk about being a burden, and hope your own Dad quickly realizes that this is not the case… he would do the same in a reverse situation and it’s what we do for the people we love.

I hope his system gets used to the pills quickly and these side effects wear off a bit, and I hope they allow the nurses to come in very soon… it sounds like your Mom (and yourself) could use a bit of extra support to get a bit of rest, or at least get some answers to explain the sudden onset of symptoms.

Thinking and praying for you Andrea… I’m here (and on facebook) if you need anything!!

Andrea – how is your dad today? I hope his mood has improved, he’s feeling a bit better, and yesterday really was just a bad day. I also hope the drain has stopped acting up so much. How are YOU doing??

Thanks for the thoughts about Dad – I haven’t talked to them today so not sure how the bed was last night for him, but I hope it brought him a bit of comfort with the shoulder. Hopefully in the next few weeks it starts to feel a bit better. We are supposed to go see his bench for family day (Feb 21), but there is so much snow out there and it would be a fairly long walk for him, which would be much more difficult with his shoulder… I guess we will have to wait and see! His 60th birthday is only 2 weeks away… another fantastic milestone to meet!

    Love to everyone,

Andrea – so very glad to hear the latest on your Dad – I hope the new bag helps him, and he continues to have no pain, and no new symptoms – that’s so fantastic! Good luck on your run… it may be emotional but you’re right – it will be SO worth it! Take pictures and make sure to post them on facebook!

Dad is doing about the same (as far as symptoms go as well), but had a VERY unfortunate accident on Friday when I was away… he slipped outside of the hospital (go figure), and broke his shoulder so he’s very uncomfortable. A hospital bed is being delivered to the house tomorrow, and will hopefully help.

Thinking of you and your family…

    Jen
