SpectatorWow! Another Miracle Woman! I really think our good results have been at the fore front lately. Could CC be getting scared of our “Family”. I sure hope so.

SpectatorDearest Danielle, I don’t think there is a time line on grief. Everyone handles grief in their own way. I honestly believe that Jim is worried about you as well. Not sure this will help but I have not posted it in a while:
You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go onlainy
SpectatorDear Erin, welcome to our “Family”. It looks like your father’s doctors have acted quickly in getting a plan together and proceeding. You are definitely on the right track. Sounds like you have done your homework and somehow we have found that the more one reads up on CC the fight overcomes the fears and you forge ahead. Our best is coming your way for your father’s surgery and keep in mind that yes, we do have success stories. My husband is one of the Miracles and we hope the same for your father. Please keep us posted.

SpectatorExactly! Teddy is extremely tired all the time and he is even getting B12 shots.
I am thinking it is his “hormones/system” fighting and winning! We will take it.
We go to the ONC Friday so it should be an interesting conversation.lainy
SpectatorHi Debbie and welcome to our Family. We have been told by a few doctors that infections come with the territory. Even when my husband was showing no cancer after surgery, he ended up in the hospital twice with blood infections. They must do a culture in order to know what kind of infection. Some stents need to be changed about every 3 months to prevent infection. I hope your brother is feeling better now and please keep us posted.

SpectatorOMG, Marion. This article suggests exactly what Teddy’s Radman said to us 3 weeks ago when I asked him how 2 tumors can be shrinking. He said, “Ask Dr. Cavalcant (ONC) about hormones!!!

SpectatorHello Julie and welcome to our Family. We need to have a little more information, like where the tumor is located, what kind of surgery did they do and etc. So sorry you had to find us but you have come to the right place. Please give us a little more information and I know many of our CC Family will be sending you all kinds of great advise.

SpectatorHi Donna and much congratulations as your husband is already a survivor! My husband, Teddy, had the Whipple 4 years ago at 73 yrs old. He had a few bumps in the road also. You can look up all about him under Lainy. It is a very slow healing period as it is the largest surgery to the human body, not life threatening but huge. After about 9 months he started to golf. As for chemo we were told by 5 doctors and surgeons that it would not work for Teddy after a Whipple. We have already used radiation and cyber knife. Teddy had all clear margins and nodes. Anxiety, fear all go along when DX with CC. Then once a plan is made the fight begins and the fear seems to subside. Since the surgery Teddy goes to the Oncologist every other month and has LABS every month. We are so glad you found us although sorry you had to. We have had more Whipples come on lately. You are not alone here you are now part of our “family”. If you would like to talk about the Whipple, etc. please feel free to e mail or call me.

SpectatorHi Dr. Amr, Teddy had plastic stents that worked fine but his were still changed every 3 months, under a local anesthetic. When his cancer returned 1 1/2 years ago it pushed the right ureter closed and they have to stent that. That was also done every 3 months with plastic. The last time was last May and they now have a metal (J) stent (like titanium) and he only has to have it changed once a year!

SpectatorAnd a Happy & Healthy New Year to you also. Hope your dad is feeling better.
