    Hi Nan,
Welcome to this wonderful and supportive group. I also live in Ohio and am treated at The Cleveland Clinic. Chemo tolerance is different for everyone but I did have the 5FU and did very well with few side effects. I think you will find hope and compassion on this site. If you would like to talk please feel free to call me anytime.

My last PET scan was delayed and then denied by insurance. My oncologist made the call and intervened and it was approved. My insurance states that there is a lifetime maximum of three PET scans after initial diagnosis and I have had three. I advised my doctor that I never want insurance limitations to dictate my health care and he agreed.

    Welcome,
Lainy recommended the Sarna cream and it has been a blessing for the itchy skin. I have also taken Hydroxyzine to relieve itching, it does make you sleepy and have a dry mouth. Make sure his skin is well hydrated with a hypo allergenic lotion.
    Peace,

I fired my first oncologist. He gave up on me before we even started, he gave me no hope. He was also unkind and rude. I decided I deserved better and that no one should be treated poorly and no one was going to steal my hope. He gave me six months to live and that was over three and half years ago.

Welcome, I am happy to read that your wife can have surgery. I have had two liver resections, if you would like to talk please feel free to call me 330-903-6868. I spent two weeks in the hospital post surgery and went home with two drains. The only complications I had were constipation from pain meds and and fluid retention. I got stronger and felt better each day.
